Thanks to sideshowe for hooking me up with this bottle.

Opens as a bit of a gusher but it's not too bad.  Lost about an ounce/ounce and a half before it settled.  Pours a very cloudy, dark golden orange color with tangerine hues and a three finger, frohy white head that very slowly settles into a lasting ring.  Good retention with large chunks of soapy lacing left behind.

Slight earthy floral aroma with a strong citrus character and prominent spicy zest.  Only subtle farmhouse character with slight musty funk.  Could use more barnyard/farmhouse/saison character but it's dominated by peppery spice, bready yeast, tropical hops and citrus fruit.  There's a bit more farmhouse quality as it warms but there's still too much going on and the strong citrus presence hinders the other flavors.

Medium body with crisp carbonation and a blast of overwhelmingly sour, tart citrus flavor.   There is a ton of lime flavor which almost completely obliterates the farmhouse and saison characteristics.  Intensely dry and puckering citrus flavor, like a few ounces of lime juice was dumped into the bottle.   All lime juice and citrus zest.  Slightly peppery and spicy but after a while, when the palate adjusts, the saison notes very subtly start to show up.  Subtle farmhouse funk, spicy hops and tropical fruit.   Grassy with faint barnyard character but again, the citrus is so strong and overpowering it kills off everything that I enjoy about the style.  Needs balance and has way too much citrus/lime flavor.  Very disappointing.

2014 bottle into Hill Farmstead stem.

Pours a bright, hazy yellow with soapy two finger head that leaves nice whispy lacing on the sides of the glass.

Aroma is of bright citrus fruits, mainly lemons, limes, and oranges. Juicy, earthy pulp, faint yeast musk, touch of breadiness, tropical fruits floating lightly. Little to no typical saison spices as the fruit is dominant.

The taste follows through with more rich breadiness, tangy lime, deep orange pith/pulp, nectarine skin, calcium forward minerality. Easy drinking, refreshing, excellent exposure of the fruit additions. Crushable.

Mouthfeel is light bodied, carbonation spot on. Tart throughout with a dry finish. Hint of citrus sweetness rounds this out magnificently.

Overall a juicy, highly drinkable, citrus forward saison. The lime and blood orange come out about as good as possible. If anything, maybe the addition of the citrus has thinned down the body a bit. Complexity is not great, but the flavors are so rounded and delicious the former is overlooked. About as good as Convivial Suarez and similar in characteristics.

Poured from the most recent release 05/2014 into a modified tulip.

A - Beautiful color, deep straw, carbonation dances into a wonderful rich froth.
Lacing completes the picture, fine and thorough.
S - Fresh citrus, lime, and blood orange as advertised, a touch of funky barn, ever so slight. The nose continues as the beer warms into sweet and sour lime. Ever so enticing.
T - Wonderful tart snap to begin, then fine malt with a tease of refined hops. This is incredibly refreshing. Finishes with a wonderfully tropical, feel.
M - The mouth is coated but lightly as the carbonation with the lime and blood orange to balance the experience. Medium bodied but delicate to say the least.
O - The finest of the saison's I have had this year. The citrus, house yeast, perfect carbonation blend into a fantastic creation.
I hope this becomes one of their permanent portfolio.

Cheers

Poured nicely with a soft white creamy head. A tart and slightly sour taste that lingeted in the lower part of palette for a good 4 - 5 minutes afterwards. Great lacing that ringed the glass sip after sip. Got a bit more sour as it warmed but it was still a fabulous beer. Wish it was in Florida so I can serve it at my bar.
