Delicious hop and citrus flavors, mild bitter finish and the usual smooth, understated HF flavors... Another amazing offering from the Hill.

Split with angrybabboon.

Appearance: Hazy golden yellow. Head is bright-white and fluffy to start. Drops to a small clump of a cap with a small collar and some splotches of lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: Simcoe. Pine needle and a deep oily resin. Some solid punches of citrus. Orange, grapefruit, and pith. Malts are light and bready. Some cracker, and a slightly sweet bready element. Pale malt sweetness as well. Grass. Sweet and juicy citrus. Clean malt base. Mango, grapefruit, and some peach and pineapple. Balanced on the nose. Simcoe pushes to the front as it warms. Leafy pine needle. Soft fluffy yeast. A touch of cereal grain.

Taste: Citrus rind. Grapefruit zest and pith. Orange peel. Oily pine needle. Bitter resin. Peach, pineapple, and tangerine. Malts run as a slightly sweet balance to a solid hop bitterness. Touches of fresh biscuit and honey graham cracker. Some oats as well giving it a slight cereal grain finish. Balanced. Leafy. Slightly grassy. Tropical fruits abound. Tons of pine needle. Slight lingering bitterness. Slight pale malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Creamy medium to lightish body with a moderate carbonation. Slightly dry on the finish with a slick sip.

Overall: Straight up yo.

Solid. Simcoe dominates the nose and the back of each sip and that's ok. Drinks like all Hill Farmstead related pale ales and that's ok.

Split with Goblinmunkey7, growler filled about 3 hours ago

Consumed 11/15/14

A: Hazy, golden tangerine, with some yellow and burnt orange - pours with a fluffy, medium to large head, fades to a wispy cap, leaves some streaks of lacing

S: Not surprisingly, very hoppy - fresh, ripe tangerine and orange flesh - ripe, ruby red grapefruit - some pith and some zest - resinous, very herbal, very floral - stone fruit, maybe even a touch of apple, hint of earth - pale malts, with some pale grain

T: Well rounded, if not mind-blowing - ripe orange slices - some tangerine, and a big, fleshy, ruby red grapefruit flavor - some pith and lightly sticky zest, oil - resiny with some pine - floral, herbal, grassy, and earthy - pale and lightly caramel malts - light touch of oats - stone fruit and hints of tropical fruit

M:Medium body, nice carbonation, distinctive smoothness from oats

O: Legit indeed

This is not my favorite IPA from Hill Farmstead, but that is not an insult. The use of Simcoe is great, but overall I could like the hop profile more. Regardless, this is lovely. More breweries should utilize oats for IPAs.
