Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

This double IPA is a collaborative beer brewed by Shaun E. Hill of Hill Farmstead Brewery with Jacob Storm and Morten Lundsbak of Amager Bryghus (Denmark) at Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro Bend, VT.

The name is inspired by one of Danish writer Hans Christian Anderson's travelogues; the beer represents a vivid but fleeting memory of a productive and wonderful visit by our Danish friends to Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.

On tap at Prohibition Pig. Served in a ridiculously small half pint glass.

Appearance - Clear orange. Nice fluffy head. A bit of lacing and nice surface foam.

Smell - Some orange, skips the grapefruit, and goes right to pine. A touch musty and some malt sweetness.

Taste - Sweet malt right up front, but orange hops take hold. Very juicy. Pine hops take over throughout as the sugars drop off. Moderate bitterness and some grass. The finish reveals a bit of a toasty malt backbone.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied. Has the sweetness of a DIPA without just a bit less body.

Overall - Interesting hop profile. Very nice. Expensive at the Pig though... I suppose that's not the beer's fault.

Served in a tulip glass from a fresh growler. Color is a light golden yellow; thick frothy head with persistent lacing that hangs on forever. Nose is a little fruity, not overpowering. Taste is fantastic; definitely hoppy without any sense of being overly bitter or astringent; it's got a bit of a citrusy component that makes it very pleasant and refreshing to sip on. Fairly light mouthfeel; none of the clingy, overly oily sense of some DIPA's.
My only regret is that I didn't bring a few more growlers of this one home with me; my favorite so far of all the brews I've enjoyed from this brewer.

This Hillstead Farm collaboration beer is amazing! The appearance is mouth watering golden in color. The aroma is Pine and citrus that is heavy on the nose. The taste is right up there with the best DIPA's on the planet. This brew had a beautiful head when poured into the goblet. I could drink this all day! Again the color and carbonation of this brew is amazing!

Bottom Line: Nearing Legendary status

Poured from a 750mL growler I picked up at Hill Farmstead over the weekend. I poured into a snifter, and the beer is a bright, slightly hazed, orange-gold coloring with a tall, frothy, fluffy, bright white head that sits and stays around half an inch. Nose of basil and cut grass, cedar and pine resin, tangerine and grapefruit sweetness. Very balanced and enticing aromas. Flavors are extremely balanced, with a heavy tropical fruit sweetness blend on the forward tongue, equal parts tangerine, grapefruit, and mango, followed by hints of basil and pepper spicing and a subtle, sweet, lemon tart backbone with hints of sweet sugar. Very easy to drink and very balanced. Tart and sweet aftertaste, with a bitter undertone that helps clean the palate. Hints of booze accent perfectly throughout. The body is smooth and robust, supporting the very balanced palate. Slightly bittersweet finish, with a subtle drying that begs to have more imbibed. I am going to cry when this growler is empty.
