On tap at 38 Degrees Ale House in Alhambra, CA. Shaker pint.

A- Hazy straw-yellow body. One finger white head with thick film and lacing. I would have to deduct points for the lack of proper glassware and not pouring in a way such that the head has proper room to expand, but that's more the fault of the bar than the beer itself. Looks very refreshing.

S- Bubble gum, cloves, a crap ton of wheat malt sweetness emanates from the beer. A solid bit of banana as well. It captures the aroma aspect of a good hefeweizen well. Some hefeweizens are heavy on the banana, others are heavy on the cloves, but good Hefes straddle the right balance. This is one of these Hefes.

F- Wheat, minerals, not particularly grainy but certainly a nice dose of cloves and banana; a lot less bubblegum than in the nose. Bitter noble hops rounds this out. As in the nose, this is certainly a well-constructed hefeweizen in terms of the diversity of flavours found in the spectrum of the yeast.

M- Thinner bodied, but with good depth and nice carbonation. Very refreshing, very easy to drink. Finish is mild earthy and grassy bitterness from what I presume are noble hops.

O- Very nice local Hefeweizen that is mellow, not over-hopped or malted, which allows the yeast to shine.

Final score: 3.98

Crisp hefeweizen. More of a lemon finish than other citrus notes. Nice carbonation on draft. Mellow smell. Smooth flavors. Moderately filtered appearance, pale yellow. Drank at medditeraneo in hermosa beach california on May 18 on tap. Great with tomatoe salad.

Poured on tap into pint glass.
A: Pours a very hazy/cloudy lemon hue with 1/2 inch white with good retention and lacing. Very nice for style.
S: Loads of the expected banana and clove. Soft citrus note too...brings to mind citrus (especially lemon) merengue.
T: Follows aroma very well. Wonderfully assertive and fresh. One of the best American renditions of a hefe that I've had.
M: Tremendously smooth, creamy, and fluffy (if that's possible)! Very merengue-like. Light- moderate body. Fills and lingers nicely on the palate. The feel is a highlight of an already solid brew.
D: An outstanding hefe...brings me immediately back to days traveling along the Rhine. Seek it out! Very sessionable and paired well with pizza at Pizzaria Delfina.
