On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. The most sensationally "meaty" flavored Saison ever. It has that Biere de Mars flavor I keep looking to find, since New Belgium doesn't seem to brew theirs anymore.

So fragrant as you sip. Big nose of that savory, woodsy mysterious element. Barbecued malt? An acidic whiff to let you know this is on the wild side. Finally a scratchy, bitter yeasty Belgian taste takes over. Fruity and woody at the same time. Some warm malt to start, even a sweet touch-- but just sourish enough to take you to another dimension.

What a great brew, that seems to stretch the idea of a Saison. Next batch I hope the brewer will toss in some of the fruit he used in the Persimmon Sour.

On tap at Lucky Baldwins in Pasadena, CA.

Billed as an oak aged saison.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour and tart with malt, grain, and woody aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of woody bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice oak aged presence that is slightly better in the smell.
