A different beer from previous draft iterations of SR-71. This beer has been confirmed to be the equivalent of Assassin (Barrel Aged Norseman’s Wrath) with more time in the barrels. The fill date mirrors the 2014 Assassin release that was aged in Pappy Van Winkle barrels and is most likely drawn from the exact same batch of base beer.

black body with small medium brown head that quickly drops down to thin ring around the glass. Smells like fudge and pappy barrels. Taste is much the same with awesome lingering barrel notes that just do not go away for the longest time. thick full boided stout. Oily and rich and immediately mouthcoating. No booze to this stout at all. What a treat! This TG stout is my third favorite stout from TG; Mornin' Delight and silver wax KBBS are better that SR-71, but not by much. Yellow wax assassin is my next favorite stout below the SR-71. Man, appy barrels and TG stout are a killer good combo! This beer lives the hype just like all the other TG stouts! SR-71 also reminds me quite a bit of Vodoo Black Magick aged in pappy barrels.

Obsidian black with a short but dense and dark tan head dispersing to a thick quarter pipe ridge all the way around the surface.
An unexpected introductory note of peanut brittle is countered by espresso acids and dark chocolate covered prune. The surprisingly frothy viscosity then recedes to classic Assassin elements of splintery char nearing smoke.
But the nose! Campfire marshmallow aromas waft around for days.
Though the acids are far higher than I've ever gotten out of any vintage of Assassin, SR-71 (2018) was far, far better than I thought it would be after all this time.

Bottle. Dark brown/Joan Jett black pour with a fleeting chocolate head. Enticing fudge and caramel aromas. Loads of fudge, caramel, and brown sugar highlights. Vanilla and mild bourbon lowlights. Some roasted malts way back there somewhere. Complex with wonderful lacing. A fantastic freakin’ beer....
