Our flagship beer was named after our founder’s grandmother and crafted to please her purely classic tastes. Mildly hopped, light in color and body, and clean to the taste, this california common-style lager drinks easy. Each sip charms the senses with distinct flavor and refreshing simplicity, delivering a smooth finish. Dorothy is truly the “Classic Beauty.”

Tasted 1 March 2014.

Pours a hazy pale sunny yellow. One finger of white head, decent retention, okay lacing. A sparse column of bubbles rising up.

Smell is faintly grainy with the corny sweetness typical of many pale lagers. But it's varied and pleasant, with subtle depth and delicately rounded edges.

Taste is really nice. Starts out with thin grains and a light syrupy sweetness, then drifts slowly towards a clean finish. Could use a bit of bitter to balance it, as it is at times overly sweet. But I like it.

Feel is good. Medium-light body, low fizzy carbonation. Could use some more buzz as a contrast to the sweetness.

I'm not a huge fan of pale lagers. But this one is far better than most. It's bright, flavorful, and clean. Excellent. (751 characters)

L: Pours an energetic gold with a white to cream colored foam cap that completely disappears after a minute and a half. S: Spicy, grainy, minty hop aromas joined by light bread rise from the glass. T: A prickly entrance gives way to grain and malt flavors with traces of apple and sulfur that open the door to an assertive hop bitter finish. F: Sparkly, prickly, lively, with a medium light body. O: Crisp and refreshing and packed with flavor. (446 characters)

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and fairly hazy straw golden orange with a lot of rising bubbles. About one finger of white head that slowly fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.

Smell: A bready and fairly sweet malt forward aroma with good hints of grains and biscuit. Pale malt with hints of bready biscuit, grains, straw, cracker, and yeast. Fairly earthy with some hints of grassy hops. Zesty hints of lemon fruit. A nicely crisp and bready light lager aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a crisp, bready, and fairly sweet malt forward taste with good notes of grains and biscuit. Upfront pale malt with notes of grains, biscuit, cereal, wheat, straw, cracker, and lager yeast. Earthy hop background with notes of grass. Citrus fruit notes of lemon. A pretty solid light lager taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp and very smooth with a fairly dry finish.

Overall: A pretty solid take on a light pale lager style. Nice crisp grainy malt notes with some light citrus notes. (1,094 characters)
