Notes / Commercial Description:
Baby get the keys to the Rover Truck. Man, let me get this Oatmeal Stout over, bruh. Ain’t no beer here up in Iowa like it. Bust your big head is what was told to us. Now play it how you say it - I bet ya won’t. I’ll have you drinkin‘ its sweet molasses when I give you what you want. Lookin’ good, doin’ bad, and my nerves bad with it. Drink on up, you know you gonna hit it.

12oz bottle from Justdoit1234 (thanks man!). Bottled 8/11/15. Served in a Toppling Goliath teku.

Pours black with almost two fingers of khaki head. Gradually fades to a narrow halo, leaving surprisingly little lace.

Smells of roast, brown sugar, rolled oats and caramel. Simple, straightforward and pleasant enough.

Taste is a blend of cocoa, burnt caramel, cola, toasted nuts, oats and a vaguely herbal bitterness. No alcohol presence. While the flavors may be slightly more subtle that I typically prefer, this delivers a decent amount of complexity for such a low abv stout.

The fairly light body still comes across a tad creamy and has fairly slight carbonation. Roasty, nutty and dark cocoa aftertaste.

Rover Truck is a solid basic oatmeal stout. There is nothing particularly stand-out about it but it is an easy drinking stout.

A- Pours a pitch black with a very minimal head that is a dark tan.
S- Coffee, Chocolate, Burnt wood?
T- Lots of dark chocolate with some coffee. Getting some rauchbier qualities as well. Some silliness.
M- Not too thin and slick and creamy.
D- A pretty good oatmeal stout that I was glad I was able to try.

Bottle dated 7/8/15. Pours nearly black with a brown head which quickly reduces to almost nothing; very unique. Smell of dark fruit, oat, and come coffee. Taste follows closely with roasted malt and some sweetness. Lower carbonation and slightly thin body. Overall, a unique brew, but too much dark fruit and not enough richness that is expected in an oatmeal stout.

33cl bottle (or something like that) via Mikkeller Webshop. Visually stunning, pitch black and glossy, with a dark tan head. Smells of roasted malts and dark chocolate, and the taste follows the same notes. Nothing complex or out of the box here, just a very well made oatmeal stout.

L: Pours dense black to dark brown under a 3” tan foam collar that dissipates to nothing over 4 minutes. S: Has a chocolate and malt aroma. T: Big malt, chocolate and some grain, nothing harsh or burnt. F: Full body, soft carbonation, creamy, soft palate. O: This is a flavorful, well balanced and easy to drink oatmeal stout.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice. Bottle date is July 7th, 15.

Appearance: Pours a dark blackish brown with a moderate amount of bubbles. About a finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A sweet and roasty dark malt forward taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and oats. Dark roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, oats, toast, biscuit, grains, caramel, yeast, and slight smoke. Sweet hints of brown sugar and cream. Light dark fruit hints of cherry and raisin. Also some hints of anise. Very light with the hops. A pretty nice smell.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a sweet and roasty dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and oats. Dark roasted malt with upfront notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, oats, biscuit, toast, grains, caramel, smoke, and yeast. Sweet taste of sugar and cream. Notes of anise spicing. Subtle dark fruit undertones of raisin and cherry. Pretty light hop presence. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very creamy, silky, and smooth.

Overall: A pretty good take on a Oatmeal Stout. Good dark malt flavor with a nice balance of sweetness and roast.

12 ounce bottle poured into a stout/porter glass.

Impressively thick and chewy dark khaki head over an ebony body. Trickling carbonation is visible. Lacing is light. 4.5

Smells thick with dark toffee-like malts. Cacao-like sticky sweetness. Caramel and spicy hop aroma. Pretty lovely to smell. 4.25

Thick malty flavor, noticeable oatmeal sweetness, caramel and vanilla. Bitter dark chocolate lingers on the finish. 4

Smooth and viscous mouthfeel, albeit a tad thin. Carbonation creates a touch of a soda-like feel and the finish is bittersweet and lingers. 3.75
