375 ml bottle, label says brewed in 2010. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a dark reddish/purple color with about a half inch light pink head. Head retention is good, but there isn't much lacing. Aroma is very fruity, it smells like dark berries (both sweet and tart), grapes, oak and some funk. The taste is similar to the aroma (it's a mostly fruity brew), but there's also the addition of some lemon peel. There's a nice mix between the sweet and tart flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, with moderate carbonation. I think it's a good overall brew. Worth a try.

poured from 375 into a tulip. Pours a dark red color with a small head.

Good dark red fruit aromas with some tart aromas of leather, dark red cherries and some funk.

real nice medium body with a good tartness to it. Not overly tart though with good flavors of funk, leather, and dark red fruits.

An extremely good sour styled beer. Not cheap, but still a real good beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear reddish color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of oak and tart notes is very interesting with subtle acidic notes. Taste is a nice mix between loads of oak which brings out cherry tart notes with a light acidic finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Another great sour from this brewery though I must admit that there is quite a few resemblances between their Flanders Red.

Poured into a large goblet last night at Bittercreek's 2014 Funkfest... A hazy reddish/brown brew produces decent head and spotty lacing.

Nose is weird... candy like sweetness punctuated by a musty/lightly funky bretty character.. Flavor has a big oaky essence that is punctuated by a tannic element... this one is for the geeks, I am not sure what to make of it... not really anything that I commonly associate strictly with grapes, but there is an overall round very background sweetness that I guess is grape.

Weird ... very weird ... tasty, but certainly is not going to be everybody's favorite.

First off the cap comes off tough and makes a crazy noise like breaking glass. Strange cap with the plastic insert.
This pour is like a mini movie. Initial pour yeilds mounds of off-white suds adorning a clear and effervescent root beer colored brew. Then all at one time the bubbles quickly leave and these snakey bubbles fight each other for dominance. Gotta give that a 5.
Smell is very bretty and oakey with grape skin and sour green apples. Some malt and sugar way in the back along with that nose burning yeast.
Taste is bitter/sour like putting alum in your mouth as a kid. The flavor soon turns to oak and brett wine. There is alcohol here but stays in the shadows.
Mouthfeel is very clean but there is an aftertaste that is almost like formaldyhide(sp) or at least like it smells. Not a bad thing , just an odd thing.
Overall this is a great beer and the only thing I would have against it is the price.19 bucks for 12 oz.
I will buy this again and mabey put it away for a few years to see if the odd taste mellows out.

Bottle from K&L, 2010 vintage 375ml.

Dark brown with ruby highlights. Hazy, muddy near the bottom of the bottle. Moderate carbonation with a short-living head. Footy blue cheese aroma, plenty of vinous oak barrel and toasted malt. Palate is vinous, funky, tannic - quite dry. Good flavors, malt is present enough to lend a backbone to the barrel and bacteria. Sort of like a Consecration Jr., and actually a lot easier to drink - good stuff.

Pours a one finger white head that vanishes immediately and leaves no lace. Brown/red murky color. Fizzy carbonation and medium bodied. Sour grape nose and flavor is sour grape with hints of sweetness, almost a wine. Can we call this a beer if there is no yeast in it?? There are numerous sour ales that are far cheaper, not worth trying at $19.99 for a 375ml bottle from Julio's Liquors Marlboro, MA. Brewed 2010.

Thanks for sharing this one, Javi.

A: The beer pours amber in color with a finger or two of white head.

S: Smells pretty funky. A bit of sweat and musty funk, along with some oak. There is a strong fruit character to it, almost like raspberries and grapes. Some light grass and lemony tartness.

T: Pretty fruity with a touch of booze. Almost like a fruit liquer, actually. Moderately tart with notes of green apple and lemon zest. Some mild malt, grass, and wet, musty oak.

M: Medium in body with carbonation that is medium to high.

O: Not really my thing, but compared to some Italian beers, pretty good.
