From a 12 oz can (dated, I think, February 10, 2013) into a tulip.

A-A normal pour produces two fat fingers of light khaki head with nice retention and some lacing. The brew is clear and deep amber in color with a few streams of carbonation crawling up the glass.

S-Upon first sniff, I detect a fair amount of roasted, grainy malts and a touch of toffee/caramel. The brew is lightly sweet with some earthy, pine-scented hops for balance.

T-The taste is a little weak up front, with only a faint hint of toffee and caramel from the malts, but a nice spicy, earthy pine flavor comes through on the finish.

M-The brew is water with a fine prick of carbonation. It is medium to lighter body for the style.

O-This is a perfectly drinkable amber ale. The smell is pretty nice and while the flavor is a bit of a letdown, there is nothing upsetting or crazy about this Crazy Mountain brew. I would happily drink this again if the occasion called for it.

12oz can

A) Pours with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Clear amber colored body. No lacing on the drink down.
S) Subtle roasty malt notes. Not very aromatic.
T) Earthy caramel malt. A thin taste profile. Finishes with mellow hop bite.
M) On the lighter side of medium body. Not much carbonation
O) An OK beer. I won't be clamoring to drink this again.

Handsome dark amber color, but brief coarse foam. Some pleasant, slightly sweet malt taste with a nice roast flavor. After that the hops make an appearance and linger long. The malt is mellow and caramel flavored, with a slightly rough hoppy edge to give it some balance. A touch of the leafy and herbal but overall a decent aromatic hop flavor.

Unfortunately, this is nearly dead flat after a couple of minutes, which doesn't add to the appeal. It might be quite drinkable in better condition. From the 12 oz can bought at Wilbur's Total Beverage in Fort Collins.

No hiss from opening the can. Pouring the liquid makes me question whether there was a leak, but then the bubbles start to show. Nearly no head, but the rim retains some bubbles throughout the tasting. The liquid is dark amber and crystal clear.

Decent biscuit and light toasted malt nose. A touch of caramel sweetness. No notable hop smell.

Less malt presence in the taste but there's a definitive hop bite. The body seems thin and flat. The swallow is bitter in a black pepper sort of way. The aftertaste is dry and short.

Overall, this is a drinkable amber with a good hop bite, but the flaws detract.

A - Thin bubbly head off-white head over clear amber body. Head quickly dissipates but leaves some nice sudsy lacing.

S - Bready caramel malts

T - Amber malts are sugary and fruity; apricot, caramel, and biscuits. Very slight earthy hops show up in the after taste.

M - Medium/light body with moderate carbonation. While it's slightly sticky, the body is overall fairly thin.

O - Not a bad drink but also not too memorable. While this is very drinkable it also doesn't offer a lot complexity or bold flavors. meh
