New brewery for me, an IPA from Colorado, could go either way.

Pours a fizzy bubbly small spittle looking head covering, some lines of lacing, hazy slight peach tan slight amber colored beer.

Nose has definite hops, but not the kind I was hoping for, more like U.K. and former east coast U.S. style, some earthy grassy hops, a little leafy, some herbal aromas as well, a slight chewy spicy earthy aroma with little vegetal, some sweet chewy toasty amber malts, hint of citrus and candied orange peel with the sweet candy malt.

Taste comes with sweet malts at first, candy reddish malts, light toasty amber reddish malts, little caramel and candy coating, before the hops come through, again the earthy bitter chewy hops, little herbal and slight vegetal. They turn chewy and spicy the more it goes, with a little hint of fruity flavors and touch of candied orange peel again. The bitterness gets strong but balanced by the big malts, which are sweet but not too sweet. Finish is long fairly bitter with some slight earthy spicy hops, chewy spicy hops lingering for a while actually, fairly sweet but drier than before, little sweet candy malt charater lingering.

Mouth is med bod, nice carb.

Overall I'm not sure what to think of these style IPAs anymore... they are more like the original style, big sweet malts, lots of earthy spicy herbal hops that bitter quite a bit, but with the tropical fruit citrus bombs out there these days I can't even consider this in the same category. I think we need a new category for American citrus bomb and sweet bitter spicy earthy hop candy malt balanced beer. This is the latter by far, OK but not so great.

Orange-tan with a slight bit of haze, not a lot of head or lacing, but it doesn't look bad at all, just a bit lacking on foam.

Aroma is that of an IPA with a solid malt backbone. Caramel malts and earthy tones compliment a floral, citrusy hops body.

Carbonation is somewhat light (probably affecting the appearance too), but more than ample.

Overall the beer has a finish that spans both malty and resinous hops bitterness. Enjoyable. So far, I haven't had any beers from crazy mountain that I didn't like.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a mug glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a large foamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, floral hops and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in. The malt character is very hearty for the style and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth but a bit on the watery side for the style, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, it might not be the best IPA or the most standard but it’s worth drinking for a while.

A - Pale muddy body with two fingers on nice white dense head. Very nice retention and lacing.

S - Deep malts with a citrus tang

T - Lemon/lime citrus, and floral hops upfront. The flavor recedes to a caramel and earthy malt. I was concerned when reading the label that this is based on and English IPA, as I tend not to like the malt heavy EIPAs. But the malt is not as strong as expected and this beer lets the citrus hop shine.

M - Medium/light, with moderate/light carbonation. The body is thinner than expected which I think also lends itself better to the hops.

O - I'm liking this a lot more than expected. The hops stand out nicely against the malt base. And the body is light and refreshing. I will definitely gives this a go around again.

I picked this up at Cecil's in South Lake Tahoe. It is right above Stateline Brewery.

Appearance- clear copper color, pretty thick head

Smell- wonderful aroma of citrus and floral hops, piney hops too

Taste- very well balanced, citrus, floral hops

Mouthfeel- medium bodied

Drinkability- I thought this beer was very good. It has an australian hop in it that I found very interesting. Very good beer!
