Amber color pour paired with the Hank Williams Jr version of this song. Mine is the older can pictured here (not the newer bald eagle one).
Off white head 1/3" deep. Aroma of crystal malt and hops. Are you sure this is an English barleywine I was thinking about this point?
Taste smacks of a ibu war double ipa. Grapefruit rind and caramel all over this one. A little bit of a raisin and dark fruit bitter note to it. Hefty amount of bitterness to it, but actually not that boozy or hot, usually one amplifies the other but here the tandem hit doesn't happen all that much. This has so much more caramel to it than say, Bigfoot, which has like, none, but it is very hoppy. This isn't that hoppy, but still hoppier than about any English barleywine I've ever had.
This might be decent for a cool day on the links, but other than that, I can't really see a place for a canned barleywine like this. Too strong for skiing or softball.

Poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt orange close to amber/red faint murky linings further inward in its body. Just a cap of white foamy head swiftly died off. Some messy lace.
The aroma had some earthy sweet character with golden raisins, dates, grapefruit pith, citrus rind, caramel/toffee malts and a touch of dark chocolate with some toast. Even lighter dose of vanilla on the back end.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side indicating a mostly fine blend of all of the prior mentioned aromas. Some rounded out nuttiness plays in the aftertaste with some caramel and grapefruit.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Pretty good carbonation and ABV. Good finish of golden raisins, dates and grapefruit pith, slightly dry.
Overall, in my opinion, I would say this is more of an American barleywine than an English one. And that would be because of the stronger hop content in this. Still, it's well worthy to come back to.

From a can. Amber color with white head. Smells of caramel malt. Full bodied. Caramel malt and bitter grapefruit flavors. Not really familiar with the style, but it seems like the juicy hop flavors are a little too strong, making this more DIPA-like. Points for being an easy-drinking 10% ABV, however.

Poured a very nice orange brown into my tulip glass. Very little lacing.. Nice aroma of tobacco, leather, acid and malt sweetness. Taste is very citrus hop bitter .... interesting for a barleywine but somewhat one dimensional- light body for a 10% beer. Assertive bitter grapefruit up front on the palette. Body lacks depth. This is fine, but an average Barleywine that lacks the complex layers of flavors good barley wines have.

Poured from can into tulip, little to no head, seems low carbonation, little to no lacing. Turbid dark orange/amber in the glass, opaque. Smells of caramel malt, honey, slight citrus and an earthy underlying dankness. Taste is initially caramel sweetness, honey and grapefruit pith, good creaminess on that palate thru the middle and the finish is a pretty aggressive bitterness that lingers for a few. Nice caramel, citrus aftertaste on the palate. Started off weak, but finished pretty good. Great job of covering up the 10% ABV

Tried this at the local pizza/Beer shop. My kid told me I'd like it. He was absolutely correct. Great body and clean taste that has just the right amount of hoppy/ Citrus twist to it. Wonderful caramel flavor with that barley kick. I loved it and will be back for more.

A hop-heavy barleywine bordering on DIPA territory. Citrusy and fruity hops, honey and bready malts. Dry, bitter, little alcohol. An interesting take on the style, but not exactly to my liking.

L: slightly hazy copper tinted amber under a 1/2" cream colored cap with fair retention.
S: alcohol, dried fruit, ripe stone fruit, a trace of caramel and malt. I
T: Stone fruit, tropical fruit, caramel malt and light spice lead the flavors meeting a big assertive citrus pith bitterness by mid-palate quickly joined by alcohol, malt and fruit. The bitterness is medium to medium high, the alcohol is medium and the fruit is medium high.
F: The alcohol is not hot or harsh. The beer is full bodied with low to medium low carbonation and moderate alcohol warming.
O: For as big of a beer as this is, it is deceptively easy to drink.
