Pours dark brown with a fluffy mocha head and decent lacing. Aroma is coffee, cheap chocolate, and roasted malts. The coffee is nice, the base beer is unimpressive. Flavor is quite similar; coffee jumps out and stays on top, some crappy chocolate and roastiness are there, and it closes out with some welcomed charred bitterness. A medium bodied, somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Overall, one of those beers that on tap, at a local brewery tap room isn't that bad. But via a bottle, at home and with access to plenty other beers, disapointing. Without the coffee to this beer, probably a beer I would not have finished.

22 oz bottle. Pours black brown with a medium fluffy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet grainy malts with a little acidic coffee.

The flavor does not have a lot going on - some acidic roasted grains with a little stale coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation and is a bit watery.

Overall, I had this on nitro tap and it seemed really washed out. The bottled version is sadly the same. Roasted acidic grains with no real flavors and no real coffee to be seen.

This beer's gotten such a bad rap!

Let it be noted that this is a 5.7% ABV American stout, not a double, Russian barrel-aged malt bomb.

The beer does pour like one, though. It looks black, thick and opaque with a lasting chocolate brown head. It has sticky lacings.

The smell is an inoffensive blend of sweet mocha chocolate and fresh roasted ground coffee beans. It isn't overpowering, but it's a little complex and makes itself known.

Mouthfeel is semi-thick, mouthfeel with a bit of cleansing carbonation. The taste mimics the smell in this case, with a peaty, roasty coffee blending with a bit of warmth that would hint at a greater alcohol content than it has. Bitterness hits on the back end, but it isn't too harsh.

Is it perfect? No way. I'd still like to see a bit more body from this beer. But it's bold and has a decently warm and complex flavor. This is my favorite offering from Crazy Mountain so far.

Midnight black body with a thick, dense, creamy textured light tan head. Charred grains and coffee grounds abound in the aroma; chocolate. Taste is much like the aroma with a sharp bitterness and a vague sourness lurking in the background. Fairly heavy body; smooth and creamy feel.

A decent coffee stout that hits most points just fine but slips a bit with a mild tang in the flavor.

Thanks to someone for sending this along in a recent trade. 22 oz. bomber popped open & split with my wife.

Pour is black, no yeast evident in the bottle, low fizz. The nose is bloody weird: tons of roast cut with the scent of sour side of lamb. Yes, I smell meat. On the scale of wonderful to suck-my-blood-leech-and-tick terrible, this leans me towards the latter.

Snow Cat should have been left out in the Rockies. The coffee taste leading the beer is choppy & cheap; tastes like my dad's coffee smelled in the mid-70's. Malty. And then there's that aftertaste of sharp, acrid smoked flesh. It really sticks to the back of the throat & throws me off so much I don't even want to take a third sip. I do. I regret it. Drinkable only in one ounce measurements.

I hate to just mindlessly bash a brewer's effort, but this beer is stunningly bad. The coffee is lousy, the base beer is virtually undetectable, & on top, something has gone horribly wrong. A downright abysmal brew.

This beer had a tan head and a very dark black coffee look. Nice coffee aroma to it. The beer had a lower carbonation to it and a dry mouth feel to it similar to an irish stout. The first sip had a strong coffee aroma that dissipates to a dry Irish stout tasting beer, not a ton of flavor which was kind of disappointing. It almost tasted like a low fat coffee milk shake. There is an astringent/ bitter finish either from hops or the darker malts. This beer looks great but I was expecting something with a little more flavor and body too it.

On tap at Crazy Mountain brewing in Edwards, CO. Black but not too dark, looks alright though. Aroma was sort of blah, maybe there was some grains but it was pretty pedestrian. Flavor was not good, bitter, burned, acrid, just a bad beer all around. I was pretty surprised that most of the beers I tasted at Crazy Mountain were of very poor quality, this one was bad but at least it wasn't disgusting like some of the others.

a frustrating beer for me, because it has so much potential. it pours really dark brown, chocolate colored, with very little light passing through. the head is close to nonexistent by the time it reaches my table at kaos pizza on pearl street, but it might have been there when it was first poured. the nose is pretty good, fresh drip coffee and burnt chocolate malt. also a little more alcohol in the nose than there probably should be. taste is excellent, dark dark coffee, just the way i like it, and actually a lighter malt flavor than i thought. its not really bitter at all, and has some simple cocoa character towards the finish. there is also a nice caffeine rush going on. the mouthfeel kills this beer for me, murders it actually. its so thin, and the carbonation is lacking really bad. its like a glass of high acidity water, the exact wrong texture for a beer with such bold and potentially luxurious flavors. this is a total failure, where is the body. i mean, there is a lot of malt happening here, where did its body go? yikes. overall a beer that tastes wonderful but feels like crap. not sure how it happened, but it needs revisiting.
