Bottle to snifter
A - charcoal; dark; light beige head that stands up with froth; some bubbling present; dissipating lacing
S - brown sugar; rum; vanilla; sweet cream
T - chocolate rum cake; burnt sugar; sweet rum notes; light cocoa-like malt
M - carbonated; medium bodied; frothy; a little flat
O - this is a pretty interesting take on a porter aged in rum; it's tasty and smooth but the smell is superior to the overall finish and flavor of this beer. Pretty palatable for a 9% rum barreled beer.

Ok, this beer has a bit of a punch to it, but it hides it well.
A very dark brown pour with off tan head. Lacing is thin. Head settles to a collar.
Rich aroma of caramel, rum spice, and some wood. Hint of molasses provides a sweetness along with the quick whaff of vanilla
The caramel stands out the most in the flavors. It's not really sweet, more of a rich flavor than sugary. The vanilla in the nose slips away as well as the rum spices. Dark roasted malt gives a nice backbone yet does not overpower.
While the booze does not seem hot, it does weaken the feel of this beer. It seems thin with minimal carbonation. Not bad, but it affects the drinkability a bit.

Poured into snifter.
Appearence: Dark. Tan head that quickly shrinks to just a ring around at the walls of the glass. As I drank it, I noticed that no lacing was left on the glass.
Smell - Sweet. The rum is showing that it is there. Also some dark fruit and vanilla.
Taste - Rum but not overpowering. Can get some chocolate flavors as well. After a few sips, can not get more of an alcohol "burn" as well as a bitterness that was not there at first. Mild and also not overpowering that seemed to stay a bit at the back of the throat.
Mouthfeel - Can feel the carbonation on the tongue very lightly. Very smooth.
I liked this beer. Some of the rum aged beers I have tried had the rum so overpowering that all I could think about was the rum. Here the beer is still tasted and the rum just shows how the two work together.
