On tap at Local Habit. Described as an "orange honey wheat," though I would be more specific-- an orange-blossom honey flavored beer. This just totally tastes like honey. I'd even have to describe it as honey-colored, but maybe that's the power of suggestion. Huge nose of orange blossoms and still more honey.

There is not much of a head but brew is adequately carbonated in the mouth. There is a pleasant tanginess that cuts some of the sweetness. A pleasant hoppy bitterness sneaks up after some sipping. Light bodied, but feels more substantial with all the flavors.

This is surprisingly drinkable. You just have to really like honey. One of the best honey-flavored beers I've had. It just needs a toastier taste to go with it.

An orange honey wheat on tap at URGE.

A: Hazy yellow with a small white head.

S: Grain and vanilla with faint citrus. A bready malt presence is apparent.

T: Sweet bread and a lot of coriander. Honey is pervasive. Orange melds with tangerine. I get some vanilla.

M: Lower medium body with moderate carbonation.

Overall: A beer for people who don't drink beer.

On tap at Hess Brewing Company in San Diego, CA.

Pours a hazy light orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a thin cap on top of the beer. Foamy chunks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, wheat, orange, and tea. Taste is much the same with a mild amount of herbal bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is easy to drink but not something I would go after again.

Pours straw colored with a touch of darker gold, mildly hazy. The white foamy head reaches about two fingers in height with average retention but it ends up depositing loads of chunky lace on the glass.

Pale cereal grains, soda crackers and zippy wheat. Raw honey, with some yeasty funk, vanilla instant cake batter, musty and sweet. Very odd.

This really needs to be defined as a wheat beer with orange blossom honey, there is no actual citrus in this beer, only very pervasive and very raw honey. Cereal grains are more integrated and less husky than the nose indicated, honey sweetness and then a soothing vanilla extract, sugar cookie dough/cake batter flavor. Finishes with a rough patch of straw, green herbs and metallic notes.

Medium carbonation with a sessionable body. Alcohol is kept way down with a drying yet metallic bitterness that while cleansing is not as refined as it could be.

Lacks the hops of a high scoring American wheat yet it has its own thing going for it. Vanilla cake blending with bright wheat and sweet, aggressive orange blossom honey is a delightful flavor that while short lived makes me want to endure the funky aroma and somewhat metallic finish of this beer. That and I just cannot say enough about how good these tall boy cans look.
