On tap at the Framingham location. Beer pours black/very dark brown. Head is a mocha brown, relatively non-standard for Irish style stouts. Good lacing, which surprised me a bit considering the beer isn't nitrogenated. The selling point for this beer is its flavor, which has tons of coffee and a bit of smoke mid-palate, finishing with a silkiness and a lingering tart flavor that I assume comes from the rather mild dose of hops. It is a smooth, thin, clean, and rather well-carbonated stout that stands up well on its own, and is divine when mixed with the O'Leary's IPA in a Black and Tan (even if the stout doesn't layer well). Wonderful brew that I'm sure I will enjoy again and again.

A: Black and dark, opaque, great lacing, off-white 1-finger head, great lacing.

S: Roasted malt, a little chocolate. Hard to smell much else.

T: Chocolate and coffee - lots of it. Wood fire roasted malt. Aftertaste is more chocolate and campfire. A little vanilla in the background. Taste goes away almost immediately after swallowing - I would have liked it to stick around longer.

M: Decent carbonation, slightly astringent, Medium-bodied but not thick and chewy enough.

D: Drinks alright, but it's not right for the style. It's too light in body. The flavor is alright, but I can find better stuff in a bottle.

This was my least favorite of the bunch. The beer is a thick Irish stout with plenty of foamy tan head, and loads of lacing. The smell is coffee, chocolate, burnt malts. The taste is mocha coffee, some chocolate, but not warming or restorative at all. The taste is a bit acerbic, the consistency thin, and the beer doesn't score any points in the finish which is a bit harsh. I would avoid this one.

Black with a small beige head that doesn't stick around for too long, some lace. Smell is espresso, some day-old coffee, a wee bit of chocolate and some spicy hops. Flavor is espresso mixed with seltzer water that finishes with an earthy English hop note. Way too thin, burns a bit on the tongue. Great espresso and leathery notes, the rest sucks.
