I think it's very easy to like this place, especially if you're looking for a nice meal to go along with your beer.

I made my first visit to the Owl House on a date. You wouldn't think it much of a restaurant from it's apartment-style look with an owl post sign on the front lawn. But it's contemporary interior design and polished look gives it a homely feeling. For the lack of a better term, I'd call it "artsy".

The food falls under the category "New American" (from the website - very helpful!), and from what I gathered on the menu, it really caters to vegetarian and vegan meals. My date had a platter of cheeses and veggies - called the Matty's Moustache, and I had to find the only entree that was prepared with meat (tacos). Drink selection is modest but with what they have, it's easy to settle for a micro brew on draught or a bottle made in Germany. Interestingly, you can try a beer on-draught in a small glass called a Pony - but for a small price.

Friendly staff all-around. Go on Sunday afternoon when every other place is closed. It makes it even more worthwhile.

The Owl House is first and foremost a hipster themed restaurant. They have a solid selection of "sandwichy" menu items along with a daily special that is always interesting. I good place to eat if you want something interesting and don't want to spend a lot of $.

The small bar is a fun place to hang, The bartenders are usually fun to talk with and provide good service. Beer selection is modest in terms of taps, but quality is excellent. I've often found beers that are difficult to find elsewhere in Rochester.

Have been here a few times with the girlfriend, never a bad visit here.

Doesn't look like much on the outside, just looks like a regular house off of Monroe Avenue. Much nicer on the inside, beautiful small bar, with a small downtairs dining room, largerupstairs dining area, and back patio. Small amount of taps (12 or so) but all chosen carefully and wisely. Have gotten some good stuff on tap here over the years, Sucaba and FW 16 being the best. The food menu is small, but very tasty. Food's a bit expensive, but clearly made with care and with lots of thought into health and taste. Great menu for people with different diets (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free). Nice, laid back, down to earth staff, always willing to chat. If you're into cocktails, this place is amazing too- really interesting artisan cocktails. They even make their own carbonated fruit juice. Highly recommended.

Amazing new restaurant in the Monroe Avenue area with fresh, original menu and terrific craft brew selection. All top notch and rotating. Last night I enjoyed a Stone Cali-Belgique and Troegs Dead Reckoning - both on draft - while enjoying and appetizer of goat balls (fried goat cheese served with slices of apples and syrup) and a home-made lentil burger. My friends were raving about the fish tacos. They also had Rogue I2PA and a sly fox on tap, along with several fall seasonals. Rochester is lucky to have this place. Easy parking across from the bug jar.

We tried this place in spite of some weird reviews. This place looks like someones house. On street parking only. They have out door seating available. We ate inside due to the weather being a bit cool. Small bar with 12 taps and twenty bottles or so. Two floors of seating. Our waitress was very friendly, a few samples were offered. My wife settled on sly fox pils, I tried southern tier pale (aka ipa). On tap was: snider weiss, stone, troegs, delerium, victory, and a few others. Food was light, vegan options and meat options on the same menu. Try the nachos very good. We had a great time. We'll be back again.
