Quality of the store is probalbly as good as it gets for a beer store, as this place is brand new and is immaculate in every way. Clean well lighted and a great selection of adult beverages.

Service is always what sells and I was very impressed with the service I received. I was looking for a particular Sierra Nevada brew and did not see it in the beer case, so I was headed out the door to try a different place. The manager was coming back in the door, as he had carried out a package for a lady, and asked me if I was not able to find what I was looking for. I told him what I wanted and he went to the back and got the guy in charge of the beers. The fellow told me they were out of what I was looking for, but that he would check online the inventory of the other 2 stores in town to see if they had it. He found it for me in another location and I was able to get what I was looking for.

Selection seemed to be mainly tuned to the beers of the masses, but they do have quite a bit of cooler space dedicated to craft beers.

From what others on this site say they pay we seem to be paying a premium for adult beverages. You can find better prices at Market Street, but I have to say the service at this place was exceptional....so you get what you pay for.

Doc's was my go-to beer store for until lately. I've expanded what I'm looking for and Spec's seems to have a little better selection. However, Doc's keeps all their beer cold, they have a comparable selection to Spec's, and the people working there are generally friendly and helpful. If you're looking for craft beer in Lubbock, you really can't go wrong with either Doc's or Spec's. Might as well check em both out. They're about a mile apart.

Like the previous commenter has said, there are two stores. One of them strictly sells beer so they can stay open longer at that location. The one on the left has a better selection, but there are a handful of beers they only have at the beer store.

They have a decent selection of beer, prices are not really that great, my local grocery store has better prices on imported beer and micro brewed stuff.

I will never forget the time I bought a bottle of Young's Double chocolate stout and the cashier was ragging on my taste in beer, but what does he know. Can't say the staff is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to anything other than domestic beer. When I tell them what beers (import or micro brew) I am trying to decide to buy they usually don't have much to say in response.

You don't have many options in Lubbock, so if you want the largest selection, you're pretty much forced to go to doc's.

First and foremost: there are two separate stores at the same address. One building, one parking lot...but two different stores. Go into the one on your left as you're looking at it. I've been in both several times, and the one on the left stocks the same beers as their neighbor - and more.

Now then...the review. For the Lubbock area, this is easily one of your better options. Deschutes, Stone, Victory, Dogfish Head, and Breckenridge all have offerings there, along with several other breweries that I can't remember off the top of my head. Decent selection of 750s of various Belgians, quads, and similar brews.

Pricing seems kind of weird. Shiner Bock, for example, will typically run a buck a bottle for a 12 pack; more for a sixer. This seems to be the price everywhere I've ever seen it. Sierra Nevada Torpedo, on the other hand, is $11 for a six pack. Ouch!

Be very, very careful with dating. Despite the fact that they've only been open since 12/09, it appears that they share stock with their other location that opened in the 80's. SN Stout, for example, has two years on it. And since they don't use easily deciphered dates on their bottles, it's pretty easy to end up dropping $9 for a beer that should be 50% off, or better yet, off the shelf entirely.

Long story short: decent selection. Mediocre to outrageously bad prices. You can do worse.
