500 ml bottle, tulip

A – Huge, three to four inches plus, fluffy, dense, creamy white head, slowly droping down to a few centimeters sitting on top of a straw to very light gold. Hazy, fairly thin appearance.

S – Lemon, bright citrus, and tartness and lactobacillus. Very fresh, slightly creamy. Some floral, earthy, and citric hop bitterness.

T – Lemon is highly prominent, the lactic acid from the lactobacillus is very tart but not mouth-puckering. Very little malt or hop flavor, if any. A refreshing brightness to the flavor.

M – Very highly carbonated, but a somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Feels thick and sudsy. Tartness is not overwhelming. Extremely dry finish.

O – Not quite what I expected in my first Berliner Weisse, as the tart is fairly mild in comparison to the standard in the style. However, this is an excellent, tasty, very refreshing beer, that I could go back to over and over again.

Very clean, with a little lemon spritzer sourness. Wish it were more sour, but this is very refreshing and ultimately excellent. Very well-made and enjoyable.

Large, pillowy head with a sparkling, effervescent mouthfeel

Professor Fritz Briem 1809 Berliner Weisse. 5% ABV.

A: Two full fingers of head. Dull yellow, with just a hint of orange. White-ish in the dimple. Lacing slides right off.

S: Smells like a standard wheat beer, with some added tartness. Slight hay.

T/MF: Damn! That's a lot of acidity, at first. It starts out really crisp and straight up acidic, but the acid fades quickly. No inherent fruit flavor. Slight kiss of lemon-lime/grapefruit as it fades. Bone dry, immediately afterwards (very interesting, considering the lower ABV). Actually, there is a stone fruit aspect to the tartness. Like a very light colored (white, even) nectarine. Nice, but needs more flavor to it. Added fruit, perhaps. Either way, this does peak my interest for further exploration into Berliner Weisses.

This actually reminds me a lot of a Sierra Mist or Squirt.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.
