Poured into a goblet. Clear, straw colored with a finger of head. Lots of bubbles. Head broke down quickly to almost nothing.
Impressive smell of wet hay, apple, pear and cherry.
Taste like pear and apple too. Sour lemon and a dry bitterness. Lovely.
Almost champagne like in texture. Lots of carbonation, lighter body. Drying effect.
Quite enjoyable. I would drink it on the regular.

Very carbonated, slightly hazy pale straw yellow body with a thick, fizzy white head. Citrus notes in the aroma with a slight hint of light malts; lemony. Tart, tangy, citrus, acidic, lemon-lime taste. Very light bodied, effervescent, bright and tingly on the tongue; clean and dry finish.

A spritely, lively beer. Light and zesty in character. A great beer for warm weather patio or biergarten lounging.

My friend from Vermont sent this down my way in Connecticut.
Although I notice that the label is imported through CT.

Right off the bat this beer has a great smell. I was expecting a yeast smell with bananas based on the color, but there is much more to this.

The pour is a unfiltered yellow with sediment strands through the brew. Carbonation is nice.

The taste is wonderful. It tastes like a German sour with a great tartness flavor. Pear and Apple taste.
Big fan of this beer.

Fizzy overflow upon popping the cap. Big ol’ white head sits atop a liberally carbonated hazy yellow body: hard to fault the appearance of this one – stunning in a curvy hefe glass with a an even pancake of a head that sticks around for the long haul. Has the musty sort of lactic aroma associated with many wheat/Belgian styles; it’s citric, and there’s an aromatic sandalwood type smell. The carbonation jolts my throat – flavor is subtle but refreshing: light bodied, lemony, tart, and dry. Nice.

A tasty beer, but one that seemed a bit absent. It had clear undertones of a hefeweizen beer, excepting some citrus and bright flavors independent of the sour, with obvious wheat and spice just to remind you of its origins from zee Germans.

As for the sourness, it just didn't come through. Present yes. But not in force. For something claiming to be this historical recipe by zee great doktor, lekturer and bier maker fritz briem, I thought it was a little flaccid.

Clearly above average in category and way above average in beers overall. But a lackluster turnout. It's a hefeweizen that has gone sour. Too much wheat character.

I'd give it an 83/100.

500mL into a weizen glass. Pours a pale lemon yellow w/ a bright white head, explosive carbonation. Looks inviting.

Aroma is grainy pale and wheat malt and lemons, some faint banana and spice. A slightly tart funk too.

Taste is grainy and sour. Lemons and banana.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp, semi-dry finish.

Overall a drinkable, refreshing beer.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. pale, straw color with a MASSIVE foamy white head.

Acidic nose. almost vinegar like. nice and funky.

So good!! Nowhere near is sour as youd think by.smelling it. Tartness is definitely there but theres also a nice wheat breadiness. Extremely refreshing.

Bubbly mouthfeel

So glad I finally got to try this! Pricey at 11 bucks a bottle. but its definitely a great summertime treat.
