Had this one as part of their sampler. Light brown, hazy beer with a thin layer of head but a lot of lacing, even after the beer was gone.

Aroma was of dark malts, wheat malt, and light spiciness. There was a slight roasted character which was a bit of a surprise.

Taste was of darker malts, wheat malts, and a little clove spiciness. There was a distinct nutty character, which seemed a little off the style.

Mouthfeel was pretty average. I didn't think it was as thin as some people seem to have done, but it also didn't stand out as anything special. It was wet. That's about it.

Drinkability is pretty average. Not a bad beer, but I'm glad I only had 6 ounces rather than a full pint.

Served in a pint glass at the brewery.

Appearance: This was a pretty weird looking brew: like someone poured chocolate sauce, sand, and mud into a glass of water. Though that sounds a bit gross, the color was pretty awesome, with multiple swirls of color going on, and I dug it. The only thing was the lack of retention and lacing.

Smell: A good mix of clove and banana and sweetness, with mild bubblegum. Very pungent and forthright in its aroma, but I'm definitely a fan of force instead of subtlety when it comes to styles like Dunkelweizens.

Taste: Like the aroma, the taste follows the same cast of characters: bubblegum, banana, wheat, clove, and a bit of earthiness. This may be too sweet for some, but I like it a lot. There's also some lingering bitter chocolate upon the finish.

Mouthfeel: This is the second of two brews I had, and maybe it's a trend with them, but it seemed at least a bit too watery, which didn't help the already-medium-bodied brew. There was enough substance to still make it appealing as far as everything else goes, but this was noticeable.

Drinkability: A sweeter version than many others I've had, but it also has a lot of complexity and flavor, and is a great sipper.

The beer has a dark brown color with a small amount of head--it almost reminded me of a pint of cola. Dry roasted malt in the aroma with some cocoa and coffee notes. Smooth on the plate as the wheat character shines through. Caramel flavors dominate up front. A bitter snap at the end of the brew with some lemon citrus as well. Balanced and decent. A little different than I was expecting for the style but it was nice to see a dunkelweizen on tap.

A nice little surprise on a summer's eve.

Pours a murky, deep, dark brown with a nice 3/4 of an inch of head.

Smells of sweet apple cider, spicy yeast, caramel and brown sugar and some stewed dark fruit. Pretty much right on for what I was expecting.

Taste is nice and malty sweet with some spiced apple cider notes, some prunes and other dark fruits. This stuff is remarkably drinkable for the amount of flavor its providing. I am digging it for sure and will certainly be back for more.

Awesome beer for another storm soaked summer night....

Good job on this one Donald.
