Piles of pitted loose white froth that leaves chunks on the inside of the glass over sunshine yellow. 3.75
Clovey yeast nose with some herb oil. 3.5
Clean crackery pale malts with some spun sugar, the slightest unripe pear esters, a whisper of phenols, and smooth lemon sorbet and mango hopping. 4.25
Starfruit and pineapple finish and prickly little nettle comeback.
Smooth, lively, lt-med. 4
A jumpy one - foam continues to caterpillar out of the bottle as we go. It belies the delicacy of what’s inside: a balanced and well-executed Belgian PA that tones down all its signature characteristics to let the hopping show, then hopping that makes itself known without stepping on the essence of the Belgian. There’s a certain oily citrus note that I could pretend I know is the kaffir lime leaves (no, it doesn’t taste like Thai curry) but this is really about multi-faceted hop tropical fruit notes sat in a creamy, solid pale ale. Impressive. 4.25
