Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into Chimay goblet.

A - Lightly hazy, golden. Creamy white foam of fine bubbles.

S - Slight sour notes, bready yeast.

T - Hop forward, piney rather than grapefruit gives it a nice grassy green taste. Tart follows with slight bready malt. More hops on the finish.

M - No hop slickness (which is good), fine effervescent carbonation.

The hoppiness is unusual for the style, but not out of place. The piney hops use give it a nice green flavor rather than focusing on the tart citrus notes normally expected from a saison/farmhouse ale. An unexpected pleasure. (591 characters)

Pours amber with a large lasting head.
Nose shows light bready malt, lemon and grapefruit, along with spicy Belgian yeast and banana.
More spicy notes as flavours along with some serious mineral content further drying out the finish. Other than that there's some bready malt and little else.
Carbonation seems a bit full-on.
Seems pretty spot-on for a saison but its just not exciting me. (388 characters)

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Opaque and fairly solid chestnut to dull lemon body. Not much carbonation visible except for a little stream in the middle that's hard to see, and a very minor half finger creamy white head. Manages to stay thought with a nice whipped up if small top.

Aroma is quite sharp and bretty on first pour. Real nice garden green herbs of sage and some malt chewy sweetness. Light hints of hay and sweet bakery bread dough. Interesting brett angle that stays away from pepper and hotness, even though it's quite powerful. Some juicy like fruit tones manage to squeak out in a tropical way as well.

Palate brings much of that pleasure. Real juiced and creamy full body on the mouthfeel. Hints of vanilla but quickly takes over in mild sharp flavors of sage, and mint herbality. Chewy finish with and excellent coating, aftertaste comes out in real nice hints of tropical fruits and some grapefruit like bitterness oils to match. Sweet passionfruit and peach mix it up as well, in this fuzzy tasting fruit basket saison, letting some of the nice fruit qualities go all over the place.

Real interesting take on a saison, with a varied fruity angle. Real nice. (1,208 characters)

Poured into a Gouyasse tulip glass. Pours a cloudy caramel amber with a massive white head. A sneaky gusher; quiet for a few seconds and as I reached for the glass to pour, started rapidly foaming over. The huge head slowly dissipated to chunky lacing. Classic saison aroma of saison yeast, sweet malt, lemon and spices. Flavor of pear, apple and lemon juice, saison and wild yeast, biscuit malt, starting slightly sweet and floral and changing quickly to a dry, slightly peppery, spicy finish. Interesting earthy, exotic spice component that may be the myrrh. Medium bodied with active, spicy carbonation. An overall straightforward saison with an interesting sweet estery start and dry finish; nice flavor transition. Glad I got to try it. (741 characters)

Golden straw, bright and clear, with a rapidly forming white head that is on the light and fluffy side. Collapses slowly with the odd spot of lace to a final ring.

Extremely floral, with sweet ester character lurking underneath but kept in its place. Good amount of sour citrus pith. Szechuan is quite prominent and accentuates the floral spice.

Flavours are similar but drier and spicier, with plenty of heather and a very dry grassiness. Everchanging and intriguing.

Light to medium with a mildly tart and refreshing finish.

Terrific beer that keeps you guessing. The szechuan imparts plucky complexity as it integrates with the base Saison. Love it. (658 characters)

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a bright yellow-orange color and a cloudy consistency. There was an inch of creamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A surprisingly amount of sweetness in the aroma, with the typical saison funkiness as well.

T: Tasted of Belgian yeast, a bit of malt, the saison funkiness, and a good amount of citrus as well. While the flavor is definitely a saison, it does almost seem to have elements of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale as well. Definitely a tasty beer.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Stillwater certainly knows its saisons and this one is no exception. Drinkable. (652 characters)

The beer comes in a golden orange.

The aroma hits of spicy saison yeast and bready malt. Fresh grass and a citrusy hops come through as well.

The flavor follows with that brightness with grapefruit and orange hops and grass. A spicy yeast quality comes through in the middle with a light crackery malt. The finish is spicy with that peppercorn coming through, but without too much taking over the beer.

A very refreshing saison. (431 characters)

The farmlands of central Europe grew beer out of necessity and not from the adherence to style guideline or prescription. This leeway allows for something of the fruit, spice and effervescent ilk to rein in the starchy presence of biere de garde or the campfire whimsy of norther Germany.

Its burnt orange hues are softly of bronze and impressive with a rich mousey head. Doughy aromas are in strong support of orchard fruit, citrus and herb before the initial taste of light bread, biscuit, honey and powdered sugar begin to layer upon the mouth.

Its broad and starchy coat buffers the mouth from the medley of fruit and spice to come. Its moderate and bready sweetness invites the tangy-sweet flavors of ripe oranges, lemons papaya, plantain, and apples to make early impressions while dried citrus, botanicals and spice come late. Firm carbonation keeps the ale creamy and fullish while also balancing the peppercorn, spruce and minty finish.

Both malty and dry in finish, the fruit and sweetness slowly fade and leave the finish to contend with an earthy vinous acidity, spice-forward bite and hints of cut grass, spruce tip and leafy hops to dry the palate. Just shy of complete refreshment or cleanliness, the rustic aftertaste is toasty and tea-like. (1,260 characters)

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 5/31/2016. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, light pine, and yeast/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste if big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, pine, and yeast/spice earthiness. Good amount of peppercorn/yeast spiciness and light tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, herbal, grass, pine, and yeast/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly sticky/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced saison style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. (1,547 characters)

Pours a cloudy golden color, nice head and soapy lace. Aroma of fruits and spices as well as a slight funky barnyard. Taste is right in line with aroma; fruity sweetness, peppery spices. Great feel; it has the crispness of a light beer but the fullness of a medium bodied brew.
I loved this brew. It was so flavorful and delicious. I'm surprised to see it is retired when I just in fact had it at Jimmy's No 43 in NYC. I would love to have this again and will had back there soon before it is kicked. (501 characters)
