Pours amber with a large lasting head.
Nose shows light bready malt, lemon and grapefruit, along with spicy Belgian yeast and banana.
More spicy notes as flavours along with some serious mineral content further drying out the finish. Other than that there's some bready malt and little else.
Carbonation seems a bit full-on.
Seems pretty spot-on for a saison but its just not exciting me.

Poured into a Gouyasse tulip glass. Pours a cloudy caramel amber with a massive white head. A sneaky gusher; quiet for a few seconds and as I reached for the glass to pour, started rapidly foaming over. The huge head slowly dissipated to chunky lacing. Classic saison aroma of saison yeast, sweet malt, lemon and spices. Flavor of pear, apple and lemon juice, saison and wild yeast, biscuit malt, starting slightly sweet and floral and changing quickly to a dry, slightly peppery, spicy finish. Interesting earthy, exotic spice component that may be the myrrh. Medium bodied with active, spicy carbonation. An overall straightforward saison with an interesting sweet estery start and dry finish; nice flavor transition. Glad I got to try it.

Golden straw, bright and clear, with a rapidly forming white head that is on the light and fluffy side. Collapses slowly with the odd spot of lace to a final ring.

Extremely floral, with sweet ester character lurking underneath but kept in its place. Good amount of sour citrus pith. Szechuan is quite prominent and accentuates the floral spice.

Flavours are similar but drier and spicier, with plenty of heather and a very dry grassiness. Everchanging and intriguing.

Light to medium with a mildly tart and refreshing finish.

Terrific beer that keeps you guessing. The szechuan imparts plucky complexity as it integrates with the base Saison. Love it.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into Chimay goblet.

A - Lightly hazy, golden. Creamy white foam of fine bubbles.

S - Slight sour notes, bready yeast.

T - Hop forward, piney rather than grapefruit gives it a nice grassy green taste. Tart follows with slight bready malt. More hops on the finish.

M - No hop slickness (which is good), fine effervescent carbonation.

The hoppiness is unusual for the style, but not out of place. The piney hops use give it a nice green flavor rather than focusing on the tart citrus notes normally expected from a saison/farmhouse ale. An unexpected pleasure.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a bright yellow-orange color and a cloudy consistency. There was an inch of creamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A surprisingly amount of sweetness in the aroma, with the typical saison funkiness as well.

T: Tasted of Belgian yeast, a bit of malt, the saison funkiness, and a good amount of citrus as well. While the flavor is definitely a saison, it does almost seem to have elements of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale as well. Definitely a tasty beer.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Stillwater certainly knows its saisons and this one is no exception. Drinkable.

Pours a very light and clear straw color, solid inch of dense white head, fades eventually but a centimeter or so sticks around forever.

Nose is dominated by estery yeast, bananas and grapes and apples or pears, maybe some spices, mostly a really nice and subtle fruit bouquet.

Taste is sharper, some hop character with a faint lemon citrus noticeable up front, then fades into a somewhat more tart fruit character than the nose, mostly green apple and grape in the taste, some very light spice again. Tasty yeast character. A balanced and delightful saison, subtle but lots going on.

Mouthfeel is nice, lots kf carbonation but it stays out of the way and doesn't distract with fizziness or anything, feels fairly dry and pleasant on the tongue but also soft and restrained, very nice.

I like this!

A: Pours a very cloudy pale orange. Mid-sized off-white fluffy head. Decent fluffy streaks of lacing left behind. Considerably good head retention as the head revives amazingly.

S: Nice citrus and grassy notes up front. Substantial biscuity malt. Get some other fruits in there, pears and apples it seems. Even some grape skin. Nice refreshing aroma.

T: Similar to the aroma. Up front there is some citrus, pear and apple along with the tart grape skin. Bready, crackery malt with a little grass. The finish is very peppery - loaded with black pepper. Black pepper basically stands alone in the lingering aftertaste. Spicy, even for a saison.

M: Medium bodied and pretty smooth. Abnormally high carbonation gives it a full, airy mouthfeel.

O: One of the better saisons I've had. Carbonation was a bit high, I ended up losing part of the (already tiny) bottle due to gushing. Made it a little TOO airy too. Still, a minor detraction overall. Good layers of flavors, well balanced, crisp and refreshing. Nice and peppery which I like.

Pale, cloudy gold. Creamy head, lovely cradle of foamy lace. Not much of a crown. Looks pretty nice.

Smells rubbery. Organic, with slight lemon zest and an aged riesling character. Touch of cherry and a mild coconut hint. Weird, but good.

Taste is also very rubbery. Citric twang upfront, but then big industrial, well-aged riesling flavours. Touch of cherry again, some berry-flavoured candy as well. Interesting; grape ester, petrochemical, but also refreshing, and pleasant.

Bit of fizz; slight dryness as a result. OK, but not great.

Interesting flavours; overall reasonably refreshing with a curious twist to keep you interested.

330ml bottle purchased from K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City, CA. Shared with Sam and Rich in Sydney.

Pours a quite cloudy dusty yellow colour with a slightly foamy head of white. This settles to a decent centimetre of persistent head. Carbonation is powdery, and roils and froths in the body when swirled or tilted. Lacing is good, forming slick streaks. Overall, it looks pretty good.

Nose is dusty and minerally, with a slight earthiness and a green vegetative note. Some pepper and an aroma like old orange peel. It's a bit light on, but it's relatively pleasant and captures some good Saison qualities.

Taste is much better, with a fullness in the body, and a fruity vegetative character like green capsicum and celery leaf. The yeast lends peppery tones to the beer while a wheatiness lends some mild fine acidity underneath. There's a clinging plasticky tone on the finish which is almost like the opening aroma of a lambic, but it also suggests a bit of alcohol heat. Feel is quite smooth for the most part, with a crispness on the back to complement the heat that arises.

Overall, very drinkable, with complexity and a good deal of sophistication. There are a few oddities, but they seem well-placed to create interest. I did enjoy this a lot.

Pours out a bight gold/orange with a massive head and very nice lacing.

Pale malts, orange rind and a bit of funk make up the smell.

White bread, rustic grain maltiness and a bit of citrus start this off. Some funk, slight fresh cut grass and a hint of minerals finish it. Very nice on the body, smooth and moderately carbonated.

Not my favorite of the Stillwater brews, but very worth a try.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- A hazy golden amber color with a fluffy four finger white head.

S- Lot of yeast. Light fruits, bread, touch of apple, floral notes, touch of funk, pepper.

T- Earthy funkiness, light fruit, some citrus and apple, floral notes, some piney hops in the finish, well balanced.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- And this is just another solid saison that Stillwater is a part of. Pricey, but a nice treat.
