On tap at Wolf Creek Brewery in Valencia, CA.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, caramel, banana, and pumpkin pie spice aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel and banana flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with an interesting concept but the flavors from the 2 different styles don't mesh together all that well in my opinion.

Pumpkins and hefeweizen. Well, the two MIGHT compliment each other, so I'll put it where my mouth is. A guest tap at Eagle Rock Brewing, on to the beer:

This hybrid is brown and cloudy like a dunkelweizen. The head on top is okay, leaves a few spots of lace on the glass. Fall is here, and its smell is on target. Bring out the pumpkin pie spices, and don't forget the banana from the base beer. The taste, at first, was strong with the spices. Nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin flavoring. Some weizen character does break into the beer, arriving just in time to show that this is a hybrid and not a spicy pumpkin ale. There's a little hefewezien in there, just a little to cool off some of the spice. It's a full bodied beer which could probably be used as a diet supplement. A fun experiment with the potential to really showcase the two styles it's trying to be.
