Deer Park Tavern located just off of Main Street in Newark, Delaware is the bar I seem to most commonly frequent when visiting friends and family back home. The tavern is a converted historical building that has many rooms with multiple bars. The architecture features old worn wood everywhere with medium lighting and ample seating.

The main bar on the ground floor has about 10 taps, most dedicated to BMC, but also Yuengling lager and when I was there DFH 60 minute IPA. Bottle selection includes Dead Guy, seasonal Victory and Troegs and some Stone. Upstairs is another bar which services the outdoor seating area and the dance floor. The majority of the purchases here seem to be for tall boy cans of Bud or Coors light and the draft beer is served in plastic cups.

It's a nice place to go to dance and hang out. You know that you can at least get a good IPA even if you have to pour it into a disposable plastic cup.

Great selection of beers. The crab cake sandwich or turkey burger are very good.

This was my first visit to this place. This is a college bar (as it sits on the campus of UD). Found a few pleasant surprises. Got there about 5 on a Saturday and this place was packed. Only a 20 minute wait for a table.

Excellent selection of craft beers reasonably priced.

I had the Farmhouse Burger...excellent!!!! Came to the table exactly how I ordered it. One of the best burgers in a long while (bartender told me they are known for their burgers). You cant go wrong by ordering it.

Service was exceptionally slow...our waitress needed to become a little more fluent on the drink menu...but she tried!!!

My only disappointment here was the restroom...absolutely pitiful. It had an animal house like appearance with overflowing urinals and vomit in the stalls. (I know, it was a college bar.) I'm glad I went here after I ate.

As an undergrad at the University of Delaware we frequented this place, but not for the beer. It is an outstanding old tavern that has stood for well over a century. The restaurant serves decent food, mainly standard american pub fare. However, do not expect to find more than guinness yuengling, and dogfishead 60min on tap. The prices are reasonable, but this is not a beer bar, service is average at best. Expect a heavy college student crowd and cover bands or DJs at night.

That said, however, this is a must visit if you are in Newark for history alone. If you want good beer on campus try Homegrown Cafe.
