Poured from a growler into a sampler cup.
I normally don’t review a beer, if all I have if a sample at a tasting, but this is an exception because there’s no guarantee that I’ll able to get any of it again. (If I do, I’ll update the review.) It was also quite a generous sample thanks to brewfan.
A: The beer pours a medium brown color with red/orange tint. There wasn’t much of a head due to the short pour into a small cup, what was there was thick and off-white in color.
S: The smell was malty and nutty with a little bit off spice.
T: The caramelized malt sweetness hits you first (but not too sweet), followed by the nutty flavor (but not two nutty). The difference here is that the two are blended together very well and neither one dominates the other, which often happens in beer of this style.
M: Very smooth and more crisp that other nut browns, medium body, medium carbonation and a cleaner finish that you would expect, mainly because it’s not overly sweetened.
D: This is a very easy-drinking beer. I’m guessing that the ABV is around the 5% range give-or-take, but whatever it is; it’s either masked very well or very mild this beer is better than any that I’ve had thus far.

A dark brown ale with a rddish tint to it. Has a decent light tan head. There is an interesting spicey malty aroma. The flavor starts of a little bit malty sweetness with a bit of spiceyness. The finish leaves a friendly malty sweetness on the back of your tongue. A very good Brown ale. Also the blackboard called this Nut Brown Ale. I am reassured by the Brewmaster that they are one in the same.

This is by far the best brown ale i have ever tasted. Brewed in the English style, the brew has a great dry roasted undertone. Great contrast to some of the sweeter tasting browns out there.
