Damn Fucking Computer! As I go to submit my review It fucking asks me to log in to the site, after I've already logged in then erases everything I've just written. Damn!
Eye: Starts with a nice soapy sudsy looking head but it quickly falls to just a thin blanket of foam over the top of the beer. The beer is cloudy lemon yellow in color. Some lacing. Active looking carbonation.
Nose: Belgian upfront. Yeast phenolics are here telling me this is a spiced Tripel. Orange and coriander are in there as well as the ginger.
Tongue: Again, same as the nose. Belgian Yeast phenolics upfront. It tastes like a tripel with spice. Orange, coriander and ginger all play out together and are well balanced with the flavor of the actual beer. Unlike Ginger Beard or Crabbies this one doesn't taste like ginger ale or ginger beer-Gosling's. As far as the ginger goes it is more of a fresh ginger taste that isn't cloying, think eating a fresh slice of ginger with sushi. This beer has high carbonation and that is appropriate for what this beer is. It works well. Body is light and finish is dry, helped so by the ginger which comes back into the flavor profile once the beer is swallowed and adds to the lasting flavor of the beer.
Drinkability: This is one that I would drink again, I'm just not sure how soon. If it were packaged differently here perhaps a 750 or 4 pack I could see myself coming back to it regularly; just like I have standards I always go back to-Tripel Karmeliet, Duvel, Kasteel Rouge and Donker, Petrus Aged Red, etc. If this beer weren't $5 for a single bottle I could see myself drinking it more often. This is one that is good to try. Unlike Ginger Beard and Crabbies it isn't syrupy or sweet. This beer is beer with ginger in it, its not trying to taste like sweet ginger ale like the two aforementioned.
