A wonderful place to grab some great Houston BBQ and a beer. Beaver's is Located near the historic Sixth Ward area and just south of Washington. It is an old Icehouse that has been revamped. There are big booths and wood tables inside. A bar that seats about 8-10 people in the center, and lots of picnic tables outside.

I sat at the bar, and was greeted promptly. The bartender is friendly, knew his stuff, and is very enthusiastic about beer in Texas. The last time I was there an Independence rep was talking with everyone and giving out samples. That led to a good conversation with me the rep and the bartender. I really like the service here.

The food is excellent. The last time I was there, I started off with fried pickles that were perfect, and the smoked sampler. That came with pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and smoked sausage. The BBQ is good to excellent, the pulled pork and brisket being the hands down best of the bunch. There is plenty of other stuff on the menu as well. Including an interesting Nut Burger, literally a burger made of nuts.

On to the beer. Not he most extensive selection on tap, but it is all high quality Texas micros. Only three taps that rotates. Real Ale Full Moon, Southern Star Pine Belt, and Bombshell Blond. Karback, Saint Arnold, Independence, Live Oak all rotate in and out as well. An extensive bottle list of 50. Rogue, Stone, Victory, Saint Arnold, more Real Ale, and some imports of BrewDog and Fuller's, among some others. The bottle list is very nice with only American Micros and a few imports. Not the best selection, but really nice considering what most Icehouses and BBQ places have in town.

This is not a place to find the most or the new releases in town, but it is hard to beat a relaxed atmosphere, great BBQ, and really good local beer. An overall great place IMO.
