Batch 175. Bottled 11.04.2013
(4.0) A: Hazy copper with a tall and creamy eggshell-white foam head. Long lasting retention with patches of lacing.
(3.75) S: Pine, citrus fruits (notably grapefruit), hints of peppermint, toffee, faint nutty elements, and buttered bread. Mellow aroma that’s probably lighter than other IPA’s but well rounded regardless.
(3.75) T: Buttered bread, light citrus fruits, orchard fruits, toffee, and hints of nuts. Nicely balanced with a robust malt backbone and ample bitter hops. Bitter throughout but with a clean finish with very little in lingering qualities that I can notice. Very easy drinking.
(4.0) M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Pleasantly creamy and slick.
(3.75) D: This is a well balanced IPA that is loaded with both malt and hops but finds a way not to overpower the flavour profile - Very good.

I first stumbled onto this little gem of a brewery during my recent trip to Portland. This tasty little IPA is unfiltered and bottle-conditioned; powered with the succulent goodness of Cascade, Centennial and Calypso hops, Zephyr is a faint breeze of hoppiness that tickles your palate. It opens in a massive billowing foam that settles in time - a loooong time. The body is a semi-translucent amber, clear and void of carbonation bubbles. The nose detects subtle whiffs (or zephry) of apple and pear. while the palate is flecked with semi-sweet mottles of grass and pine. There is a minor bitterness at the fade. The mouthfeel is a bit crisp, the body rather light.
A wonderful session from Maine's premier beer city. Sorry Biddeford.
