Poured a thin head on a clear, deep amber colored body.
The aroma has a strong caramel smell with a lemon note in the background.
The taste starts with caramel sweet and abruptly moves to a sharp lemon bitter flavor. It's on the sweet side overall.
The texture is crisp with soft edges and moderate carbonation.
It's not that great or interesting.

On tap in a pint glass, this Red pours a deep and clear amber/red in color. A thin off white cap sits atop and can be brought back up with a good spin.
Deep caramel infused hops on the nose, yet not too sweet. Nice depth with some alcohol noted though the ABV was unknown, though I'm guessing around 7%? Bit of a roasted character to the malts.
Flavor is equally pleasant and rich and nicely balanced between some ruddy caramel and some subtle earthy hop notes. Somewhat dry in flavor yet clean and with a full feel and decent carbonation.

On-tap at Manzanita Brewing Company
A: The pour is a sort of dark amber color, maybe a bit on the brown side, with a small tan head.
S: A very nutty and toasty aroma that certainly leans toward the malty school of thought on red ales. Toffee and caramel notes help to solidify that classification.
T: The flavor is pretty much what you expect based on the nose. Lots of toffee and caramel without very much in the way of hop flavor or bitterness. Some toasted malt flavor at least provides a bit of contrast.
M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation.
D: I prefer the hops to shine through on reds, but you can't always have it your way. Nothing too exciting, but easy enough to drink.

Draft to stemmed tulip

App- A very dark red amber with a very puffy 2 finger off white/tan head. A good amount of cling and lace on this one.
Smell- A very interesting mix to me. It's very similar to an amber with that sweetness and malt notes but like its a red/tan with a stout note behind it.
Taste- A nice bit of strong malts with a citrus juiciness and again that flavor profile lends itself to a stout flavor with roasted and cream filling out the layers
Mouth- A solid creamy medium body with a soft medium carbonation. A little bit of residual roasted notes.
Drink- Overall, not something I would come back to. I am moving away from Red Ales. Just not sold on that profile. This was above average but nothing to shake a stick at.

Nothing exceptional about this (perhaps overly) sweet and mostly one dimensional amber. It has some decent roasted malt notes on the nose and to the taste, but any exceptional flavors that be packed in this ale disappear almost as soon as they start.

In the bomber it's called Rustic Horizon Red and claims 6% abv.
Beautiful color in the glass, more red than brown. Decent head and pleasing carbonation in the mouth. Good body with malt and some roasted flavors. Taste of sweet bread, hints of vanilla and creamy flavors. Nice hop balance without lingering bitterness.
Very quaffable and makes a nice mouthful. Warming flavors but not too heavy.

A - Brown with a reddish hue, fairly clear, light near white head, some spotty cling lace.
S - Light maltiness and hops stand out. Almost a little smokiness.
T - Caramel, along with some bittering hops. Simple but pleasant.
M - Medium body, good carb, good balance.
D - Very easy to drink.

Can't wait to try this beer. Ive been slowly making my way through this new breweries offerings. So lets get to it.
Pouring this bad boy into a glass I am greeted with a nice ice tea colored beer that is definitely on the red side. A normal amount of head forms from the pour that subsides in a minute or two. I take big whiff of this brew and their is not much to it. I can just barely make out the sweet malty flavor of the beer. I take a sip and more of the same here. The flavor is barely there. The little flavor I do get is the sweetness of the beer which isn't that sweet its just what I can make out. The overall mouthfeel is about medium to low carbonation and medium bodied.
Well I'm kind of surprised. I was expecting a more flavorful beer. I did enjoy this beer as its one I could easily hand to a friend that doesn't normally drink more aggressively flavored craft brew. This may be the right brew for those searching for more of a session beer because of its very approachable flavor. Pick one up and try one for yourself. I'm sure this young brewery would appreciate your patronage.

On tap at Steam Haus Gastropub in Corona, CA.
Pours a clear copper with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and tea aromas. Taste is much the same with malt and caramel flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that smells better than it tastes in my opinion.

I believe that I got this bomber from Pappy's Market in Oceanside. Here we go, another one from Santee, and on to the beer:
Looks very dark amber wiht dark orange hues. Solid head and retention on top, whcih yields some whips of lacing. This is very unusual; it smells too much like a hefeweizen at first, then the nose goes into a direction that does not remind me much of a red ale. It's very yeasty and very lightly toasted, and I mean lightly. Burnt sugars. It doesn't smell awful, but it's so far away from a red ale. This will be tough to decide the final aroma score.
Perhaps the nose weirded me out too much, though it still doesn't taste much like a quality red ale. Barely toasty, more than a fair share of banana, bread crust, some cooked corn....oddly it's somewhat pleasing, but banana should stay far and away from a red ale. Maybe this should be re-labled as a dunkelweiss. A little burnt in the aftertaste. Body is okay, a little thin at time, though carbonation is fine.
This is just too strange for me.

Not bad. Let the bottle warm a bit out of the cooler. Poured aggressively and got a very nice, large, foamy, frothy, fluffy, light tan head lasts quite a while and some lace. Color is a slightly hazy red amber with plenty of bubble trails. Aroma is malt, hop, caramel, spice. Flavor is like aroma, fairly muted, but marked by slightly toasted malt sweetness, carbonic tang and the hop bitterness. Body and carbonation are decent. Finish is like flavor, had a very brief metallic note and a bit of alcohol warmth.

Poured from a bomber into my duvel tulip.
A: Poured aggressively leaving a small one finger head. After a minute the only thing that remains i fragments of the head that rim the lining of the glass. Appears almost a very dark cherry with hardly any light passing through.
S: Sweet Malts come through strongest. The hops can be found but almost seem tied down by the sweetness.
T: Sweet caramel like Malts are first thing to hit followed by a subtle hop bitterness. Bread and caramel linger along with a bitter dry finish.
M: Good carbonation makes this beer somewhat enjoyable. Carbonation makes for a real smooth finish. Hops add in a nice level of dryness. Thin bodied and closes up with a watery bitter finish.
D: This is a decent beer. I prefer the more hop forward red/ambers. The Malts make it a tad to sweet than what I like. I'm glad I got to try it. Wouldn't seek this one out.
