Been here several times, now it's in an old Wegmans and branching out. Awesome selection, very knowlegable staff, but the downside of this place is always price. They are nicely divided by region, country and style. They also will order specific hard to find stuff and they are very customer-friendly. On one trip I had a personal shopper....They kind of have the market cornered and are not afraid to take advantage of it. Wegmans and other grocery stores are now catching up, maybe that will help to drive down some of their outrageous mark-ups...

I used to live in the Rochester area and while the selection has gone down and the price up I still patronize (and highly rate) these guys every time I am back in Monroe County simply because there is nothing like this where I live now, Syracuse, NY.

Been going to BOTW for years now . I must say it has been awhile since I have been overwhelmed by something there.
Usually I hear from one of the sales people well we had such and such limited amount of the newest greatest thing.
Nothing is more disappointing than NOT getting that new killer beer you have been seeking than to hear well we HAD it yesterday. I live 45 mins away and cant just drop everything to haul ass there and spend my hard $$
I will say the growler line and most specifically the Capt. Lawrence offerings have been stellar as of the last 6 months.
All the other up and comers around I am sure are giving Beers a run for their money and I am happy to see it .

Beers of the World. So much good mixed with so much bad.

The good:
The selection is one of the best you'll ever see for international and US. They have aisles dedicated to various countries, with all the typical good selections you'd expect. They have a decent growler station, about 10 lines, but nothing absolutely insane. There's a big cooler section to get cold 4/6 packs, and then 4-5 big aisles of US craft, with nearly an entire aisle of Sam Adams. Most beers can be bought in singles, bomber, 4/6 pks, or by the case. They have a couple of "vintage" areas, where you can usually find some pretty good stuff.

The bad:
The prices are pretty atrocious. I felt stupid paying $25 for FW 17 when I saw it the next day at Nathaniel's for $18. 4/6 pks are all $1-$3 more than anywhere else. The various special releases that people go gaga for are all marked wayyy up, because they know people will buy it anyway. $8.50 for a single 12oz of BCBS is just not OK. They do have a "clearance" section, but the prices aren't even that reduced, and most beers in the clearance section are garbage at the age they are. I can't really comment on the service- because there is none. I have never been acknowledged, or asked if I've needed help, or anything. The cashiers aren't particularly friendly. When I went to check out one day, and saw FW 17 tucked away behind the register, I asked the price and if I could buy it. The guy gave me a look like I had asked to buy his first-born son. Beer is meant to be sold, not hidden. They also don't rotate old stock very well. Be sure to check the dates for any IPAs you're buying, they are most likely old.

All in all, still recommended based on the selection alone. It's an institution in this area, even though newer smaller places (Nathaniel's and AJ's) are showing it up.
