The shop itself is a small warehouse lined with an overwhelming variety of Belgian ales of all styles, some common and many obscure. It if wasn't for the great service, I could have easily spent 3 hours here digging and digging as if I were in a record store.

Your first steps inside invite you to a giant display of glassware, followed by shelves of the more rare and limited produced brews. I definitely saw some imported craft from the USA, UK and Italy. Crates and boxes of Drie Fonteinen, Girardin, Boon, Lindemans (to name a few) stack high and take up an entire wall themselves. They even carry locally produced spirits!

The selection and fair prices alone should demand a visit. De Hopduvel is like a beer geek's dream come true!

Just got home from my visit in Ghent, in which of course i inspected the famous "Hopduvel". It was worth spending time there.

Lots and lots of different beers, including many common, but great belgium beers like Dulle Teve, and many trappistes. But they also have many beers for beergeeks available, beginning with a geat variety of De Molen, Mikkeler, Nogne O, Amager, of seasonal belgiums and imported UK and US beers - pretty much all you could ever ask for. Service is very helpful and friendly, and on saturday they are having beer-tastings of new arrivals.

In addition to that, prices are very fair, of course, when you are interested in special american releases the bottle can be up to 12€, but all the belgium beers they offer are really affordable. They also sell more or less all belgium beer glasses, and if that still isn’t eneough, they also got the regional licour speciality in many different variations.

A very good and pretty cheap beershop - even if traveling by car, as they have good parking facilities. They also have trolleys you can drag around with you when choosing beers - very convenient! On the other hand, most beers are only in cases, so they're a bit hard to spot. There are hand-written labels for each, though. The selection is very good, although there are lots of specialties. Nice selection of mikkeller beers , even lost abby angels share , Port Brewing Company etc ...Be sure to reserve enough time for browsing (and enough cargo space for taking all the stuff out of there ;)!

Visited on 11/23/2010 on my recent Europe Trip.

Q - The quality of the Beer was better than any other store I went to. All the regulars were in attendance although there were a lot of rare and limited release selections that makes it an essential stop.

S - Service was above average and they speak English which every European seems to(their schools are better).

S - There selection was outstanding with lost of De Molen, Struise, Mikkeller, Emilesse and Trappist beers. I would have like to see more Cantillon. Don't remember seeing any US beers, but I wasn't really looking for them considering I was in Belgium. They have a lot of glassware but some can be quite expensive, 10 Euro for a Westvletern glass, No thanks.

V - Their prices are on par with every other store in the country(I went to many when I was there).

This place is the American equivalent to our Beverage Warehouse(CA).

Driving from Antwerp to Gent I stopped by this gem to check out the selections. A tad difficult to get to but there is PARKING around back so just drive on through the little gate. A huge beer store going back about 50 yards, the biggest beer store I've seen. As your walk there is wine to the left, beer gift packages, and an awesome selection of glassware that is well worth checking out, found a rare Westmalle and Cantillon glass there. The majority of the store is Belgians staples, they are laid in crates across the middle and back wall of the store. They do have a very nice selection of rarer De Struise.

What sets this place apart is an amazing selection of rare De Molen one offs in 18cl bottles and a ton of Mikkeller (Ba Texas Ranger and other rarities).

If you are in Belgium and tired of seeing the same old Belgian beers check this place out for some great and rare Denmark brews.

Highly recommend, a destination stop if your within an hour by car.

I went to this store after i found it while Google-ing. This store has beers i have never seen before! Check the site to see what they have. You can park easily when you come with a car and i believe it is not far from the center of Gent. Beware that there is also a bar with the same name but with another adress.

I saw many foreign beers, Japan, Holland, USA, Denmark. Take a big wallet with you because you will get greedy when you see all these wonderfull beers.

Prices are normal, not higher than other stores. They also have wines....but hey, we seek for beers!
