a - poured a three-fingers thick dense coffee-colored head into a snifter that left good lacing and sheeting throughout. the body was pitch black.
s - cinnamon and other spices dominate but some chocolate and coffee do come through.
t - tastes like wake n bake with vanilla and cinnamon added.
m - slick and creamy.
o - i think it took me longer to open the bottle than to drink this delicious brew. well done take on WnB. (422 characters)

Thanks to rudzud for sharing this beast, wanted to get my hands on one, but he had a better trade angle and got one first.

Pours a big creamy dark mocha colored thick rich almost 1 finger head that sticks around for a while, with nice lacing and big legs that slowly crawl down the sides.

Nose is ridiculous, very strong, tons of fresh coffee grinds, espresso coffee roast like an intense espresso shot, with some nice cinnamon as well, then sweet doughy cinnamon roll pastry with nice sweet sugar icing, touch of vanilla.

Taste is just straight up cinnamon roll, lots of nice cinnamon and pasty dough fluffy roll, and then a nice candy sugary icing. then it gets into fresh espresso and coffee grinds, light caramel, roast, and dark malts. Mild cocoa and vanilla, creamy feel but not oats, doughy malt taste too. Mild earthy bitter hop with fair bitterness. Finish is sticky but not too sweet, long lingering espresso, cinnamon, cinnamon roll with icing, and little earthy hop bitterness.

Mouth is chewy and fairly heavy bodied, semi creamy, nice fluffy carb, hint of warming booze.

Overall very good, huge cinnamon roll note with tons of espresso, very nice. Totally worth the hype IMO. (1,207 characters)

Pours quite black with two fingers mocha head. Great retention.

Aroma is black coffee and of course cinnamon.

Tastes of coffee, cinnamon and a sweetness that's vaguely frosting cinnamon roll sweetness. The sweetness well balanced by the big coffee bitterness.

Rather full mouthfeel. Medium carbonation.

Really a nice beer. High marks for achieving the flavor profile. (373 characters)

big thanks to barrelandzachary for the bottle and a terrapin snifter...enjoyed out of a oversized terrapin snifter alongside a 2010 regular wake n bake.

a - brew is essentially identical to the original...maybe a bit of a lighter head, but same spotty lacing and great shine.

s - nose screams cinnamon, caramel, some vanilla, and of course coffee and chocolate that i get from the base beer. the 2010 is a bit oxidized so it carries soft cardboard notes which i don't detect at all in the cinnamon. the cinnamon roll really washes over the beer...the good news is that i love cinnamon rolls! really a homerun on the nose.

t - the 2010 has a really nice roast (the oxidation in the nose is gone in the flavor) with coffee, subtle dark fruit hints and big chocolate on the finish...all of this is present in the cinnamon roll'd but like the nose, it is washed over with big cinnamon sweetness. think of that bakery...you know the one...that makes the really amazing sh*t...and then imagine their home made cinnamon roll...that's this, but in a beer. and super fresh from the oven.

m - mouth is extremely smooth. this beer is such a treat.

o - overall, i'm pretty floored by this beer. how can you possibly improve on WnB? THIS is how. this beer should become year round in 4 packs...no, 6 packs. and it should 150% be distro'ed to Long Island, NY. if that happens it will be in my fridge at ALL times. i am a fan. would love to drink more of this. (1,450 characters)

2013 batch.

A: Pours pitch black with a tall and very dense dark brown head. Head fades out slowly with good retention. Moderate fluffy splotches of lacing.

S: Sharp and heavy roasted coffee beans. A little bit of chocolate sweetens it up so it's not acrid or bitter at all, really. I get maybe a little cinnamon sugar when swirled, but that might be the power of suggestion. Pretty much pure coffee if I'm honest, much like normal WnB.

T: Lots of roasted coffee bean up front again. Chocolate joins it in the middle again and then the funniest thing happens...cinnamon rolls appear. Once the coffee fades they really rise into the taste. It's pretty much perfect cinnamon roll flavor. You get the pastry, the cinnamon and even the icing. Especially notable in the finish and aftertaste. The aftertaste is akin to having taken a bite of a cinnamon roll and washing it down with coffee. Uncanny. Impressive.

M: Heavy and smooth.

O: I'm giving this one extra points for uniqueness and flawless execution. Cinnamon rolls in my beer, who would have thunk it? This is on top of an already spectacular base beer; WnB is pretty damn good by itself. This adds complexity and uniqueness without destroying the base beer. Execution could not be better in my mind. I'll save a "5" rating in case they ever barrel age this ;) Well done, Terrapin. (1,339 characters)

Poured my bomber in small tasting sizes to really get this as it warmed and developed. Starting out when cold I felt the smell really, really lacked a little coffee smelled a lot like a regular wnb. As it warmed it improved greatly in all aspects... the cinnamon came through on the nose, on the taste got sweet, cinnamon, raisin, and coffee all rolled into one. Smooth, creamy with that coffee bitterness bite on the tongue really, really like this beer though not a surprise since I love the base beer and cinnamon rolls :) (525 characters)

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass (after much difficulty getting through the double wax dipped cap).

Pours pitch black with a large, fluffy, tan head. Nice falling bubble effect from the pour. Extremely long lasting head with very good cling. Smell is wonderful, cinnamon and spice, roast coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and slight caramel. Taste is roast coffee throughout with a slight alcoholic burn in the finish. Sweet and cinnamon flavored up front with a touch of vanilla. Mouthfeel is incredibly creamy, moderate low carbonation, and quite viscous. This beer is simply amazing, even better than standard WnB. If you see this in a store, buy it before it's gone forever, you will not regret it. Highly recommend this beer. (731 characters)

Mocha head, collar remains throughout. Legs appear with a swirl.

Big chocolate coffee notes in the aroma.

Just a tinge of cinnamon, perfect in my opinion... anymore and it's be overdoing it. More chocolate and coffee, mostly coffee of the two. Would guess 9%abv.

Thick an chewy mouthfeel, medium adequate carbonation.

Very good, not great though. Cinnamon was a nice addition but not a big difference from the regular WnB. Although I will say the cinnamon comes out more as it warms. Thanks for the share egrace84. (518 characters)

A - Pours a dark brown with a fine dark tan head with good retention.

S - Oatmeal and cinnamon - a lot like a breakfast cereal.

T - Chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, oatmail, very good.

D - Decent carbonation with a heavy body.

O - Lots of great flavors pop out. Very tasty and warming with out being overly sweet. (340 characters)

Bottle share at Proof courtesy of jbruner. Poured a pitch black opaque with good tan head that went fairly quickly. Aroma is perfectly dark. Coffee, dark roasty malt, and a touch of cinnamon in there as well. Taste is the exact same as the aroma, wonderful. Nice viscous body and creamy mouthfeel. Superb beer. (310 characters)

Terrapin cinnamon roll wake n bake

Awesome beer.  On draft at Whole foods

Smell.  Cinnamon, cinnamon cinnamon.  Dark rotated malt.

Look.  Very dark, almost black.  Dark ran head that held its own.  Lots of lacing, stayed with me to the bitter end.

Taste.  Love it.  Very well combination of the base wake n bake and the cinnamon.  Cinnamon shines through.  Leaves am outstanding after taste. Just a little bitter, not too much

Mouth.  Very smooth.  Mild carbonation

Overall, very good.  Good stout mage even better. Would definitely do again. (561 characters)

Glad to finally try this.

Appearance: Pours a midnight black color - typical stout like regular Wake-n-Bake.

Smell: Smells of coffee, chocolate, roast, and huge cinnamon. Amazing.

Taste - Taste mirrors the nose. Cinnamon is at the forefront and it masks the coffee bitterness and is the dominant flavor. It's followed by dark chocolate, coffee, and more cinnamon on the end. Slight heat flavor (but not alcohol - hard to explain).

Mouthfeel: A little thin but it's not a huge deal.

Overall: This one lives up to the hype. One of the best stouts I've had. (562 characters)

pours pitch black with bubbly, brown head that settled very quickly to a thick ring and thin covering wisp. nose is pretty much what you would expect - mostly coffee with some cinnamon background. taste is somewhat confusing. the cinnamon and coffee seem to each add a bitterness that doesn't seem to add up very well. any coffee complexity is hidden by the spice and any clear cinnamon is muted by the bitterness from the coffee. it is dry overall and has a substantial bitter linger.

i think i was expecting something sweeter. i did not like the taste of this beer cold. as it warmed up the cinnamon seemed to brighten up and the richness of the coffee was more evident. im glad i was able to try this one but i would not go out of my way to try it again. (758 characters)

Received in a trade and, hands down, the thickest layer of wax I've ever had to deal with on a bottle. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a very, very nice oily black hue with a nice one finger mocha head that fades to leave spotty lacing and a creamy halo with light wisps.

S - Aromas of deep dark chocolate, nice coffee and typical Wake n Bake aromas of oats. Deep, deep inhales brings out nice cinnamon (and not overly so) and icing. Up front is just smelled like an amped up Wake n Bake, but those deep inhales reveal something intriguing.

T - Taste is again, your basic delicious Wake n Bake (rich mocha, light chocolate, oats) and then...then the fun begins. Nice soft cinnamon, sweet sugar (not cloy), and even some icing. What's crazy though is what happens after licking your lips when you've finished the sip. Creamy, sweet, cinnamon roll icing. Crazy.

M - Mouthfeel is not bad. A bit thinner, due to the softer carbonation, than I remember the regular version being.

O - Overall, this is a delicious beer. Really turns an already delicious beer and amps it up in to a delicious breakfast treat. Wish the cinnamon roll aspect was a bit larger here in the taste and the mouthfeel was a bit thicker/fuller. Really glad I got to try this, a delicious beer for Christmas morning! (1,297 characters)

Happy Holidays! 2013

Bottle

Appearance - Opaque black, khaki head that leaves a quickly receding spotty lacing.

Aroma - Cinnamon, subtle chocolate, mocha, and icing. Very sweet with the usual W-n-B malty oatmeal background. Smells like a cinnamon roll.

Taste - Oatmeal, chocolate malt, cinnamon, mocha, sweetness, in that order. Good! Especially with homemade cinnamon rolls! (Thanks mom!)

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, solid carbonation, slight drying presence. Very good.

Overall - Worth the hype? Sort of. If you plan on drinking this for breakfast (with cinnamon rolls?), then totally worth the hype. I feel it's too sweet and cinnamon-y for consumption by itself. It's very good nonetheless! (703 characters)

Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a modest mocha head; loads of spotty lacing, however

Smell: Chocolate, coffee and a subtle hint of cinnamon and sugary frosting

Taste: Mocha flavors abound, with the chocolate and coffee elements well-blended; after the swallow, the cinnamon elements add another dimension, but it is very subtle

Mouthfeel: Surprisingly thin, with moderate carbonation

Overall: Sweeter than the base version, but the cinnamon is well-integrated into the end result (491 characters)

@ Tasty Beverage

Holy shit, the crowd that came out to this was intense. Just a little hype surrounding this one...

Pitch black with a gorgeous milky tan head on the surface. The aroma is spicy...a blend of cinnamon and coffee-with-cream, as expected. More cinnamon and coffee in the flavor, though the coffee here tastes more like straight-up beans. Vanilla, a bit of chocolate, and some almost cherry-like notes. Nicely integrated cinnamon, which is something that can easily be overdone if not careful. Not quite full-boded and drying in the finish. Just enough sweetness to offset the spice. Not mind-blowingly amazing or anything, but not every beer needs to be. Well done. (680 characters)

Pours a thick black from the bottle with thin tan ring of lacy head. Aroma is still coffee forward with a hint of spicy cinnamon beyond it. Taste is coffee and roasted malt up front, cinnamon, sugary cream back end that comes forward in time. Nose comes out more as it warms, sweetness. Very nice. (297 characters)

Poured from a 650ml bottle into a tulip glass

Appearance- jet black with a khaki almost brown head. The head is about and inch and disappears after a few minutes.

Smell- strong coffee smell with hints of cinnamon that mix extremely well with the malt. The coffee is way more prominent than the cinnamon but its noticeable.

Taste- a lot of coffee on the front end that turns into a nice subtle cinnamon roll taste that lingers during the journey through your mouth. The aftertaste is mainly coffee but allows cinnamon to smooth out through the lingering taste.

Mouthfeel- surprisingly light. I wish it was a little more heavy but the carbonation is very light as well. It goes down smooth and leaves a lingering coffee cinnamon aftertaste.

Overall- a very delicious beer that tastes like coffee cinnamon rolls with a little more coffee than cinnamon. I wish it had more of a cinnamon taste to it and a little bit thicker. It was a little thin. (947 characters)

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black with a decent khaki head. Pretty thick looking.

Smell - Tons of cinnamon. Coffee. Then more cinnamon.

Taste - Cinnamon. Too much cinnamon. Coffee comes through with some oatmeal. Lots of cinnamon in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Maybe medium heavy. Spice makes it tough to discern.

Overall - I expected more from the hype. It's just got too much cinnamon. Doesn't live up to Wake n Bake's standards. (468 characters)

pours a pitch black with a slight head. the smell is massively cinnamony with not much coffee...hmm. the taste is about the same with a huge rush of cinnamon and almost no coffee at all. its like they removed the coffee and added cinnamon. disappointing. medium bodied with mild carbonation.

overall not what i was expecting. nowhere near as good as regular wnb! (406 characters)

Draft offering served at Als of Hampden/Pizza Boy. The brew appears black in color with some brown clarity aroubd the edges and a dark brown head atop. The cap fades leaving string spots of lace.

The smell includes spicy cinnamon overtop roasted grain and coffee that formulate a pleasant earthiness about this brew. Mild chocolate is also noticed before a bit of fruity alcohol comes into play.

The taste includes coffee upfront blending to citrus of coffee/hops. It is very roasted with a pleasant cinnamon spice inclusion to break things up. Unfortunately this gets a little green and yeasty across the finish.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is enjoyable and the cinnamon is very nicely incorporated. However, I think I prefer normal wake and bake over this. Fans of spiced beers will want to seek it out. For a winter time one-off it is enjoyable. (893 characters)

22 oz Bomber into a tulip pint

A- Hands down the darkest stout I've poured yet. Plus a great head to go along with it, dark caramel and light brown near the top where it was thinner. Lacing retained nicely too

S- All hail the coffee stout! Coffee is there from beginning to end, but it is beautifully complimented by the cinnamon and roasty malt scents

T- As much coffee as was in the scent there was plenty more to be found drink after drink. I loved the original WnB but the Cinn Roll'd brings it to the next level. My order of prominent tastes from drink to finish is coffee, cinnamon, roasted malts, chocolate, then coffee on the end and that flavor stays on the tongue for a while. More please!

M- Carbonation is definitely the first thing I noticed. the best way i can describe it is "little bubbles" relative to "big bubbles" carbonation. Very light for a stout, leaves a nice thin oily coating on the tongue but nothing unwanted or overbearing. Again, more please!

O- One of my favorite brews to date. I was given this as an early Christmas present 2 weeks ago and have been on a roller coaster ride of hyping it up and wanting to save it to drink at the "perfect time" which apparently came tonight. I just hope I can get my hands on another, ALSO DO NOT DRINK THIS within 3-4 hours of bedtime. I wouldn't consider myself caffeine sensitive but I was wired after this one. (1,386 characters)

Very excited to have this on draft at WOB.

A: single finger mocha colored head on a jet black body. Some slight hints of red in the body as well.

S: mainly coffee, but also roasted malts, caramel, & hints of cinnamon.

T: wow! Amazing, complex flavor. Coffee in the beginning, then the cinnamon takes over making it taste identical to a fresh cinnamon roll. It even finishes with a vanilla, icing taste. Beer, coffee, and cinnamon roll... It couldn't be much better.

M: thick with moderate carbonation but not as creamy as I expected.

O: Terrapin totally nailed this. Great beer!!! :) (592 characters)

On tap at World of Beers in Jacksonville. Half finger dark tan head with very good retention on a jet black body. Aroma is simple but very full on the nose with coffee, cinnamon, dark chocolate and brown sugar. Flavor follows with a very complex design with nice transitions between a starting chocolatey and roasted malt note moving to cinnamon coffee bean and nutmeg finishing with sweet cinnamon roll icing and nuts. Full body and light to moderate carbonation. Very complex and flavorful, a must try beer. (509 characters)
