Gorgeous double waxed (copper with a white "icing" tip) 22oz bottle from Barrel and Barley (Woodstock, GA). 9.99. No bottle date but released in December. Served in a Terrapin snifter.

Pours jet black with a finger and a half of cappuccino head. Quickly fades to a thin halo leaving small veins of lace.

Inviting aromas of coffee, cinnamon, sticky buns and chocolate.

Bold, delicious cinnamon and coffee flavors up front. Bitter dark chocolate, burnt caramel, fudge, glaze, mild earthen char and soft oats with some alcohol fading in and out. Such a nice blend with it's signature rich coffee ever at the forefront.

Creamy, approaching heavy, body with soft carbonation. Mochaccino and cinnamon finsh.

A wonderful take on one of my personal favorites. Great interpretation. This is a worthy pursuit for fans of imperial coffee stouts.

What a great take on a classic beer. I'm hoping this is going to be a frequent Winter release from the guys down at Terrapin. In a world of cloying, over-done beers this is refreshing.

Smells like normal WnB with a touch of cinnamon. Tastes exactly like you'd expect coffee, chocolate, and the faintest bit on cinnamon on the back end, more as the beer warms up. Mouthfeel is spectacular, full and rich with faint little carbonation.

The reviews I've read claiming the CRWnB is "sweet" or "reminiscent of frosting" are fictitious as the beer is none of that. There is nothing cloying about it. Just a well done effort all around.

For me an easy 4.5/5.0 any day of the week.

16 ounce pint - $10.00 at Taco Mac in Crabapple, Georgia.

Appearance: Bears a turbid black opaqueness topped by a dense tan-colored sudsy head. This beer just exudes a kind of delicious stickiness.

Smell: Unlike some amiss beers where your guess is as good as mine, the additives here are neither a puzzle nor an enigma -- it's coffee and cinnamon, idiots.

Taste: Big handful of cinnamon set against the great roasted malt profile, gooey luscious oats, dense chocolate and Athens-sourced coffee of the local, seasonal favorite. Very minimal hop presence. Subtle dark fruitiness underneath. Reasonably light alcohol. Grants a long finish, with the cinnamon remaining fairly prominent here.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. Agreeably viscous, velvety, and creamy.

Overall: You could toss just about any damn thing in Wake-n-Bake and have it be good. Multi-wax the limited release of bombers and you'd really have a hit on your hands. Still, more than once, I found myself wishing I was simply working through a pint of the original.

Bomber > Flying Dog Challice

A - Black brown with two fingers of a dark brown head very mild lacing.
S - Cinnamon vanilla, roasted malt, toffee, caramel, dark chocolate, the cinnamon really comes out as it warms up.
T - At first being chilled it doesnt coax a lot of the cinnamon out, but as it warms up it really comes out a nice sweet cinnamon and vanilla frosting kinda taste, roasted malt and toffee in the background, light earthy notes buried underneath, and a nice light coffee flavor middle of everything.
M - Creamy rich bold, mildly bitter, dry.
O - This is a really neat idea, I actually wouldnt mind this being a tad sweeter, its a bit dry but still its good, glad I got one of these. I think I prefer original WnB though...

On tap at one of the local brew pubs.

A: Pitch black with nice two finger frothy tan head. Very nice 360 degree lacing.

S: Coffee, cinnamon, maybe a bit of vanilla.

T: Cinnamon and spices dominate, even to the point of suppressing the coffee notes quite a bit. A little bit of the coffee and chocolate comes through in the back but not in a big way.

M: Full bodied but not overly thick. Nicely carbonated. Enjoyable mouth feel.

O: Good stout but the cinnamon competed with my favorite part of WnB which is the coffee.

a - poured a three-fingers thick dense coffee-colored head into a snifter that left good lacing and sheeting throughout. the body was pitch black.
s - cinnamon and other spices dominate but some chocolate and coffee do come through.
t - tastes like wake n bake with vanilla and cinnamon added.
m - slick and creamy.
o - i think it took me longer to open the bottle than to drink this delicious brew. well done take on WnB.
