Two 12 oz cans BB 6/10/15 at 40 degrees into 1 L glass mug
Aroma of pine and generic fruit
Head large (6 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, frothy, slowly diminishing to broken froth layer between 2 mm and 8 mm thich
Lacing OK – large islands of bubbles varying from tiny to karge in size

Can with a date of 6.10.15. A light tan Lacey head atop amber/orange slightly hazy brew. Aroma is toasted rye, caramel, toffee with a peppery spice. Some muted blueberry notes from the mosaic there too. Taste is big time rye with the characteristic touch of astringency that often comes with rye. The hops are more prominent in the taste than in the nose. Mouthfeel is a bit astringent with a bit of bitter linger.
Overall not sure if the rye melds well with the mosaic. A decent drink but not worth seeking out. (513 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Best before 7/14 notched.

Pours a hazy/ cloudy deep red, nearly brown color. Decent looking off white almost yellow- brownish head. An average 1/4 inch of head retention and some nice sticky webby lacing.

Aroma is slightly more malty than hoppy, but as it warms this balances out. Woody, Slightly spicey Rye bread, a light sweet caramel malt, dank earthy pellet hop aromas.

Slightly woody, sharp lemon/ grapefruit citrus. Different from the aroma in that it's slightly more hoppy than malty. Dark bread, slightly sweet light caramel malt. Hints of rye spice.

Lighter side of medium bodied. Sharp hop bitterness, but balanced out by a nice maltiness.

Not a bad beer, but nothing mind blowing. (737 characters)

Date on the bottom of the can says 6.4.15, so I guess the Mosaic hop flavors are buried by the rye. Lots of interesting flavors in this beer, but I was hoping for more hop flavor.
Also, it smells like cold ramen noodle soup, I don't know why. (243 characters)

Poured from 12 oz can
A - poured amberish color with a fingers worth of cream-colored fizz.
S - some spiciness from the rye, a bit of dank, resiny hops, passion fruit.
T - pretty malt-forward with the caramel, spicy rye, some fruit.
M - medium-bodied, fairly creamy feel with a little hop bitterness on the back end.
O - Not the greatest but fairly drinkable. (363 characters)

Has a best by date of late 07/14

Appearance - Pours a semi-clear, deep red copper with a near 2-finger khaki colored head. Fair retention, resulting in a broken layer of surface suds. Leaves rings of lacing down the glass, with great stick.

Smell - Hmm, smell is a bit odd. Earth and a light tart tropical fruit; kinda like a pineapple slice that's been rolled around in some dirt. Not a good combo.

Taste - Flavor is a bit hollow; touches on citrus and pineapple hops with a sturdy caramel backbone, but the bulk of the flavor is lost almost as quickly as it hits, leaving behind only faint traces of said character and an almost too-easy-to-miss peppery rye aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with moderate carbonation. Nothing too notable, but a decently smooth drinker.

Overall - Yeah, not feeling it. Seems to lack cohesive flavor, and what is there is quite fleeting. Probably not the best use of mosaic hops, which seemed overwhelmed by the malts... but then those seemed a bit subdued as well. Hmm. (1,015 characters)

$2.29 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Appearance: Nice looking glass of beer. Clear deep amber/crimson body beneath a short head of light tan foam. Spotty lacing.

Aroma: Malty/earthy/caramelish, piney, gently citrus fruity, spicy, and mildly toasty.

Flavor: As suggested by the aroma but with additional fruit (apple, pineapple, underlying berry), a tea-like character, some grassiness, and a more distinct rye flavor. A solid bitterness balances between the malt base and hop flavors. Dry, hoppy finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a gently crisp carbonation. Smooth once warmed.

Overall: As far as rye IPAs go, very nicely balanced so as not to be too spicy. Pleasantly balanced for bitterness as well. The hops and rye flavors both come through. A solid offering that's hard to beat. (899 characters)
