I assume that I sampled this at the Atlantic City Brewfest not too long ago, as the rep described it as an 'imperial red ale'. Poured a reddish-brown hue, with almost a finger of off-white/khaki head, decent retention, and good lacing. Big malty caramel nose, with sweetness that brings to mind a barleywine or old ale. Also detected sweet citrus..maybe blood orange..and some dry peel notes. Even further, I could detect a whiff of alcohol content, but not overpoweringly so. The taste certainly confirmed the nose; big malty-sweet intro, balances out to a more caramel/sweet citrus midpalate, and finishes on a semi-sweet orange peel note, punctuated by some alcohol presence. Overall, a very nice and pungent flavor progression. Thicker than expected, and not much carbonation made for a slightly viscous mouthfeel. A complex, tasty brew that I would love to cellar a bit.
