Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a mug. 12/30/08. Vintage 2008.
Pours a very deep black with a thick brown head that quickly dropped to a thin layer, no lacing. Aroma is heavy with dark roasted coffee and roasted malt.
Taste is strong with dark roasted coffee and bitter dark chocolate. It is surprisingly sweet though - not cloying, just sweeter than expected, with less bitterness in the finish. There's a hint of fruit and cherries, with a lingering coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden. Very nice coffee taste, this score would be higher if it weren't for the slightly high sweetness.
Feel is thick, smooth, and creamy with plenty of carbonation. Slight warming from the alcohol. Coats the mouth nicely. Drinkability is pretty good. It's a bit heavy, not something I'd drink more than one or two of.
Overall, a very good coffee stout. Not my favorite, but very good. Try it if you like coffee and/or stouts.

Pours black with ruby edges and a half-finger of tan head that retains nicely. Ground black coffee dominates the nose, which also has dark chocolate, toasted oats, raisins, and a hint of vanilla. I taste a lot of dark chocolate up front with some vanilla and caramel, then coffee on the back end with roasted malts. The flavor profile is great and the beer really evolves in the mouth, but I get an astringency from the roasted malts that detracts from the taste. The body is on the full side of medium with medium carbonation.
