2012 Release. Nearly black, slightly viscous pour with a deep, dark brown head. Jagged lacing and alcohol legs around glass.

Bitter-sweet, deep, dark roasted malts, roasted coffee, tobacco, figs, some sweetness, smoke, hint of booze.

Dark roasted coffee, roasted malt, molasses, subdued hops, bitter kick, with some alcohol.

Just enough body to hold up to the depth of flavor.

Awesome coffee stout, morning beer, imperial-oatmeal-whatever.

12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a crazy two finger mocha head that reduced to a thin layer and left some nice lacing on the glass. It is a pitch black color with no clarity, but bubbles can be seen coming up the top of the glass.

Smell: Roasted dark coffee, a little booze, mocha, bready malts, molasses, and a little smoke.

Taste: Super tasty brew. I'm definitely not going to bed for a bit now. All of the above blended well from start to finish.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, silky, and roasted smoothness. Full bodied, low to medium carbonation, a little chewy, and tingly bitterness in the end.

Overall: I think this beer got better as it warmed. Super stoked to have picked this up in VA last month. Terrapin has yet to dissapoint me and I look to more of their beers and this one in the future.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. Thanks gwdavis for hooking me up with this one. Allowed to warm as I drank it, definitely tastes best after sitting out for around 20 min.

A- Pours a dark chocolate colored, thick, opaque body with a one finger khaki head that reduces fairly quickly to a ring. Leaves blotchy lacing.

S- I get some freshly ground coffee, toffee, and an interesting grassy, earthy aroma. Faint aromas, really needed to strain. Some booze.

T- First to hit the tongue are really nice coffee notes - almost like sipping on a freshly brewed cream. This develops into a charred, roasted malt flavor that really defines this beer. The aftertaste is slightly bitter and toasty.

M- Thickens as it warms with medium carbonation. Very easy to drink for the style and abv.

Overall this beer was very nicely done. The coffee really works here, even though it's upfront and in your face. If you're looking for a good coffee/cappuccino stout, I'd call this one of the benchmarks for the style. Highly recommendable.

Pours jet black with a chocolate brown heard. In the aroma, sweet oatmeal and coffee notes. In the taste, sweet coffee, sweet oatmeal, a light roast, and a small alcohol presence. A small bite of coffee and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry coffee and small alcohol presence in the aftertaste. Big coffee, big oatmeal, small alcohol presence, dig it!

outstanding breakfast stout.

served from a bottle, into a snifter. Bottle was from this past winter release, but still had strong coffee flavor dominating the oats. Smell of strong coffee.

Solid offering. One of the only beers I have thoroughly enjoyed from Terrapin. Hopsecutioner was alright. Hopzilla pretty good, but Wake 'n' Bake is top notch.

Still a league below Founder's, but we can't all be perfect.
