Pours thick and absolutely pitch black with a dark mocha head which dissipates to just a ring around the glass.

The nose has a huge black coffee aroma along with dark chocolate and maybe some anise/licorice.  This one is going to be bitter...

Again, lots of black coffee right up front.  This is followed bitter dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, and oatmeal.  Finishes moderately bitter with a touch of anise.

Medium-full body.  It has the silky creaminess you'd expect from an oatmeal stout.  Superb drinkability.

Overall, a very nice coffee stout!  Closest beer I've had to FBS, just a tad thinner.  Certainly worth seeking out.

2011 Vintage

A - Pours a thick, dark black with a tan head that dissipates to a thin ring with some swirling on the surface of the beer. Ok lacing.

S - Roasted coffee, cream, malts, faint traces of the oatmeal and some cocoa. The coffee smell is strong and rather pleasant.

T - Big, bold coffee flavors. A little sweet and a little earthy. Roasted malts, notes of oatmeal and cocoa. The coffee is definitely the most assertive flavor here.

M - Full bodied, surprisingly drinkable and creamy with almost no detectable alcohol heat. Ok carbonation.

O - Wake and Bake is a fantastic coffee stout. It's big, bold and assertive in flavor and a must-have for any coffee aficionado.

A: jet black with large brown head, good retention.

S: big coffee , rich, and deep smelling.

T: good coffee, bitterness, and rich/sweetness. Tastes quality, unlike a few coffee stouts.

M: medium carbonation, medium body, still smooth.

O: great coffee stout, probably 2nd or 3rd best coffee stout out there. $10 per 4-pack.

Poured to a snifter.
Pours a deep rich black with a thick dark tan head. Very nice lacing.
Very nice aroma. Dark roasted malt, coffee, and oatmeal are all upfront. There is also a nice little bit of sweetness in there.
Great rich coffee flavors, the oatmeal really gives this guy has a big full body. There is a little dark sweet fruit in there to.
As noted before very full body, the carbonation is on the higher side of medium.
This is a very nice stout, very well balanced with great flavors. I would love to try this with a cocoa nibs treatment!

big thanks to jmpizzo for this bottle.

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. "vintage 2011"

pours out a rich oily black, the last couple drops kind of beaded around on top of the head before falling into the beer (oils from the coffee). formed a dark mocha colored head that stayed a thick ring and some patchy foam. just tiny bits of lace.

again, the more it warms, the more that great espresso bean aroma comes out. rich roasted malts, dark fruits, and hints of oatmeal behind the coffee.

intially this is a bit metallic, that fades the more it warms, but i dont remember that in the 2010. other than that, pretty much the same taste. lots of wonderful espresso like coffee at the forefront. dark fruits, deep, rich roasted malts, only traces of molasses, but still a bit of that warming booze. more creamy oatmeal as it warms.

more carbonated than the 2010, makes the body appear a little weaker. creamy oatmeal feel.

this definatly has its differences than the 2010 version, but luckily that great coffee aroma and flavor is just as good if not a tiny bit better.

huge thanks to mizzouguy for the bottle, recieved in the noob bif round 6

12oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a snifter. "seasonal: 2010"

when pouring into the glass it appeared pretty much flat only forming a very small dark mocha brown colored head that quickly turned into a thin ring. opaque pitch black body. no lace.

the more it warms, the more this awesome deep roasted expresso coffee bean aroma becomes apparent. also a dark fruity smell blends so nicely with the coffee. a hint of an oatmeal stout base.

awesome taste, a big dark fruity, slightly roasty imperial stout blends with a very nice expresso coffee bean flavor. some rich molasses and warming booze. good stuff.

pretty big feel, finishes roasty, chocolaty bitter, minimal carbonation.

awesome coffee beer, even for a 2010. this fresh would prolly blow me away. this is right up there with founders breakfast stout for me. awesome coffee bean flavor stands out, yet stays in check by the rich stout, love it!
