Many thanks to SammyJaxxxx for this extra.

I usually don't care for coffee beers. Most of them remind me of stale or underwhelming coffee. But not this one. There is a terrific balance in this beer. I found it to be remarkable drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable, even though I usually don't care for oatmeal stouts, either.

The coffee is the first thing you smell, but it is not dominant. It's mingling with a little chocolate, a little roastiness, and a some tropical fruits. The beer looks great in the glass, although the head is a little more pale than expected from a beer this dark. Alcohol is barely perceptible, and somehow, this manages to be light.

This one was gone before I knew it. Delicious.

a dark black pour with a finger of tan head which quickly dissipated. no lacing, no retention. smells of coffee beans, chocolate, mocha latte, caramel. delicious stout from terrapin. lots of coffee, a bit of dark chocolate, lots of dark bitter notes from toasted grains. full body with medium carbonation, thick heavy slow sipper with a wonderful taste. i love this beer. it's like a souped up version of moo hoo.

I heard many good things about this beer and I have to say I can concur with most of them. Pours the same as any other imperial stout, just on the thinner side. Fair amount of lace.

Nose is very expressive with hints of slightly soured coffee, vanilla, creme brulee, drinking chocolate, mocha.

Chocolate gives way to roasted coffee in the mid palate followed by baking chocolate, roasted malts, slick oily mouthfeel and finishes with hints lingering vanilla laced roasted coffee. Extremely drinkable and the medium body fits the style well for a coffee stout meant to drink and not sip for long periods of time.

Definitely worth the price of admission.

12 ounce bottle -> New Belgium Globe

This beer is amazing. It compares well to FBS and in my part of the world is much easier to get. It pours up an opaque black without much head and bits of lacing left. The smell is incredible. a wonderful pleasing aroma of roasted coffee, nuts, and chocolate just rise up out of the glass to treat the nose. Taste is sweet molasses up front followed by coffee, toffee, caramel, and chocolate. The finish is a little bit boozy, but not overwhelmingly so. This is a great beer!!!!
