Pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a minimal off-white head and small traces of sticky lacing.
Subtle aroma of pine and citrus upfront with a malty sweetness and hint of spice in the background. Good but not very noticeable.
Taste starts with a nice caramel sweetness and toasted bread, then quickly moves into spicy notes of rye. The piney and citrusy hops show up next, and stay on until the sweet bready finish. Alcohol is noticeable almost the whole time but not so powerful as to hinder drinkability.
Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Overall, I didn't think this was as big a deal as the bottle had me believe, but it was good all the same. This was actually fairly well balanced and the flavors worked well together. My biggest problem is that the aroma was not too prevalent, just very quiet. It did get a little better as it warmed so again not that big a problem.
