this beer is great. the pour is nice and smooth and the color is a dark ruby red with a great head that last through duration. the aroma is of chocolate and nuts as well a floral hint, the taste is a cross between chocolate with alot of hops and grains. overall great beer in my opinion, little carbination so you can drink a few of them with getting full.

Glad to finally try this,I heard great things about it and well for good reason.Poured into a standard pint glass a slight hazed deep chesnut brown with a clingy one finger white head that held for quite some time. What a great aroma a great mix of big piney, earthy, and citric hop mixed with a large caramel and slighty roasted malt base, great near balance but the hops win out.The mouthfeel was a little thin that is my only slight complaint, flavors are great.Big resiny pine mixed with citrus and herbal hop intertwining with a big firm somewhat sweet biscuity malt base that holds up well.A great interplay of flavors,Iam a hophead so this is defifnetly my kinda brown here.

On tap this beer pours a dark brown with a nice white head. It smells of pine, citrus, roasted malts and chocolate. The taste, for me, was more IPA than brown ale. The hops far outweighed the brown part of this ale. It is a nice change of pace but not an overly fantastic beer. It is very thin feel on the palate.

A 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Dark brown color, red highlights. Nice thick tan head with a bit of lace.
Sweet aroma, caramel and milk chocolate. Herbal/floral hops.
Tasted like a hoppy porter. Coffee and chocolate, caramel. Herbal, piney hops.
A bit on the thin side.
All in all, a tasty brew. Enjoyed it.

12oz bottle with a freshness date.
Three fingers of light tan head rise after a healthy pour, muddled tawny color that only shows some clarity when put to the light. Sweet toasted grain and a mildly pungent spicy hops meld well in the nose. Big on smoothness with a semi-creamy medium body. Big hop character with a pungent oilly flavor throughout of pine, tree bark, wild flowers and grapefruit rind. Maltiness holds a good foundation together with toasted bread crust, chicory and cracker like graininess. Finishes a little bitter and dry though refreshing.
Nice fusion of styles though they could have just called it a hoppy brown ... but that would have taken away from the whole scheme of things. Really good drinking here ... glad to hear it is year round!

Bottle pours a radiantly clear mahogany body with a creamy beige head that appears to have goldenrod edging. Excellent retention and lots of sticky lace on the glass. Quite a looker!
Aroma of pink grapefruit and milk chocolate, a couple of aroma notes that are odd bedfellows.
Average mouthfeel of medium body and carbonation enlivened by a hop presence.
Taste has a sweetish citrus hoppiness of pink grapefruit/orange, the bitterness dominating the chocolatey brown ale maltiness. Interesting, but finishes with an odd, out of kilter, aftertaste.
Unusual, but enjoyable, but the citrusy hops here seem misplaced.

Serving info: 12 ounce bottle with "best if enjoyed by" info on the label.
Pours: Dark brown amber.
Nose: Resiny hops
Lacing: spotty blobs
Head: medium khaki
Body: Medium with a seemingly appropriate level of carbonation
Flavor notes: The label claims it's a combo of w. Coast IPA and English Brown ale. Cant argue with that. Tasty stuff. Moderate grainy hop bite, with nice smooth malts laying the groundwork. Nicely done.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Dark brown with a tan head.
Smell is extremely hoppy. Very little maltiness shines through. Smells a lot like an IPA. Floral.
Taste is very hoppy. Heavy on the bitterness at the finish, but still smooth. The finish is very floral after the bitterness. There is a slight maltiness that I caught in the middle. As the beer warms a little, I could catch a little bit of the malty, nuttiness with the floral ending.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a clear medium-dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is caramel and toffee malt with some pine and chocolate malt The flavor is piney hops with some toffee notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This was an older bottle - still labeled as India Brown Ale - which may be why the hops were not more prominent. Still, it was a good beer.

12oz Bottle poured in a snifter.
Pours a dark brown, very Coffee like in appearance with no head, just a little lacing.
Sweet malty nose, I'm thinking a brown ale. On the taste, it is very much like a porter or light stout. Mouthfeel is pretty light and smooth. There really isn't much of a IPA taste to it, I feel like it's just a good brown ale not so much and IBA as they call it.

One of the first times I've ever seen this in Alabama. Great looking beer; poured a coppery brown straight from the tap, with lots of bubbly carbonation and a 1.5 finger fluffy head. Smell was of toasted, maybe roasted malt, mixed nuts and spices. Tasted great; generous malt flavor, nutty, earty undertones, almost toffee-like with just a kiss of hops. Great balance. You won't be disappointed if you try this one.

12 oz. bottle a little above fridge temp poured into a snifter. "Best if enjoyed by month 7 week 2"
Pours out a really dark brown, almost appears black. When held to the light a very nice clear deep ruby red can be seen. A nice one fingers worth of light tan colored head off the pour, settles to a nice retentive layer with some decent lacing.
Earthy hops, on the herbal, woody side. Hard to get much else, maybe a bit of toasted, caramel grain. Really not the most enjoyable aroma.
A better taste than the aroma suggests. Earthy, herbal, woody hops, maybe a bit of pine balanced by caramel, toasted grain, fairly sweet, finishes with more of a pale ale bitterness.
Definitely smooth and drinkable with a subtle carbonation.
A decent beer, but a bit more hops would have been appreciated. The few other brown IPAs I've had in the past were a bit better.

Pours a nut brown from the bottle with a thin head. Smell is rich - coffee, chocolate, and dark cherries. Tastes like a rich, almost porter-like brown ale up front, rich and dark, and is quickly followed by hoppy bitterness chasing it. With the hops, there is a citrus element that I can't decided if I like with brown ale, or love. I've had a few black ipa's, but this is probably the best to date. Delicious!

Pours a dark brown with reddish highlights. Great looking mocha colored head. Very sticky; good retention. Nice globs and webs of lacing show up.
Smells very herbaceous and piney. Candied pineapple and grapefruit make notable appearances later on, after warming.
The most forward flavor is bitter pine sap. Next in line comes ruby red grapefruit. Tart fruit in the middle: fresh raspberries, peaches and apricots. Also, chocolate, maple syrup are forces in the finish.
The first bottle from this pack that I had seemed almost too bitter (and I love bitter beers), but the second was perfect. I guess maybe I drank the other one too cold? Obviously, this beer is hoppier than most brown ales, but the hops still do not out-shout the malt. I love all of the flavors in this one, and it's very complex for the style. Nicely done.
