Decided to open this one while I wait on the turkey that I just put in the oven...goble goble! Thanks to Kevin for including this extra on our recent trade.
The beer is a light copper or amber hue with fizzy bubbles that race to the top to form about half in inch of foam that falls down to a ring quite rapidly. A quick swirl of my Duvel glass brings back that half inch of foam but the retention is not that impressive for a Belgian style DIPA, or a Belgian, or even a straight up American DIPA.
Belgian yeast influence right away with some sweet candy sugar, white pepper, juicy peach, candied orange, flowers, powdered sugar, pale malt, and slightly nutty in the finish. A bit of cherry, light mango, and strawberry as the beer opens up. Quite nice on the aroma, very fruity with some spicy Belgian influence. Tangy and sweet citrus aromas intensify.
Similar to the aroma, toasty and slightly nutty malts, hints of caramel, fruity and tropical in the middle with peach, cherry, strawberry, orange rind, and a spicy finish. Some alcohol is noticeable in the finish but very well balanced. Feels like it's a bit spicier than the aroma, the spiciness moves up almost to the front of the palate with some hoppy bitternes. Seems a tad too sweet in the finish at times and in other sips I get a bit of a grainy and very earthy bitterness. Fruity alcoholic finish, but not to be confused with "hot" or "harsh" alcohol flavor, very clean.
Moderate to high carbonation, a little filling once it goes down but has a clean and refreshing finish.
