12 oz bottle into a wine glass.

Appearance: Pours a darker copper color. The head is a finger high, with an off-white shade. It has both good retention and a solid creaminess to it. Some streaks of lacing are left behind. (3.25)

Smell: This leans closer to a pumpkin beer than a marzen. Because of that, it's the fall spicing that dominates. There are also slight notes of gourd and caramel malts. While I can't help but feel (as is the case in too many pumpkin beers) it's slightly over-spiced, it does feature a nice aroma. (3.25)

Taste: The first half of this beer is pretty much a pumpkin lager, with a healthy spice profile and a lesser kiss of gourd. Its lighter finish helps give it a bit more balance compared to a traditional pumpkin ale. I still think it's over-spiced at the end of the day, but it's more easygoing than other (lesser) pumpkin beers. (3.25)

Mouthfeel: While it's a fairly sweet beer, it being a lager means it's more crisp and dry on the back end. Almost refreshing, even. Almost. Carbonation bites the tongue slightly; it's not as fizzy as it could have been. (3.25)

Overall: Not bad - it's more drinkable than other pumpkin beers. This fusion of two archetypal fall styles yields satisfactory, but not amazing results. (3.25)

Terrapin Pumpkinfest has a thick, cream-colored head, a bit of lacing here and there, a mostly clear, deep orange/brown appearance, with a slight haze to it, and lots of streaming bubbles. Aroma is mainly of malt, but it gets spicier as the beer settles down. Flavor is of sweet malt, a mix of spices, and a touch of pumpkin. No bitterness, here. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Terrapin Pumpkinfest finishes crisp and refreshing.
