12oz bottle poured into a tulip.
A - Pours a crystal clear amber with about 2-fingers of tan head. Nice retention as it leaves some soapy bubbles around and a foamy cap. The lacing is pretty good as well.
S - Although the hops do impart the traditional grapefruit and citrus aromas, the nose is also full of floral and spicy notes as well. Also, this has a strong malt backbone that lends it some caramel and toffee and even a hint of burnt brown sugar.
T - The taste follows the path the nose blazed, with a strong orange and pine flavor. This citrus starts early and lasts well into the finish. Complementing the hops are the bready malts, which are out in full force again. I feel they help the overall profile of the beer rather than hinder it, and that sugar note is here again.
M - Mouthfeel is medium- to heavy-bodied with zesty carbonation. Slick and oily full of hop resin, which leave a sticky feeling on the palate.
D/O - Drinkability is high. As a self-proclaimed hop head and lover of West Coast-style IPAs, I typically prefer hop-bills that aren't as strong in my IPAs, but Terrapin really puts together something tasty here. Very drinkable for the ABV as well.
