Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a darker straw color with a small white head. Smells of hops, hops, hops, with nice malty tone. The hops give a little bit of a floral note which compliments the malty hint nicely. Tastes of hops, light malts, and a finish of hops. Carbonation seems right, smooth finish with a little hop bite. Overall, a good beer and IPA, one of the better ones out there.

A: orangish yellow, near gasoline color. Thin to no head with mild carbonation.

S: floral hop smell. Spicy notes.

T: solid dry hop forward with a bit of funk on the end that seems to deminish deeper into the glass. The bitter end attaches itself to your tongue and numbs it to the funk.

M: dry and bitter. Keeps you thirsty.

O: fair selection of a middle of the road American IPA. Dry hoppy goodness with not too much overall depth.

Bottle from Dsho in a trade, best before June 2012, poured into a cheater pint.

Slightly darker than straw gold, foamy white head with excellent retention. Lots of bubbling carbonation. Nose is pine and light citrus. Taste has nice bitterness, citrus, and faint caramel. Improves with warmth. Medium bodied, finishes dry. Yum.

on-tap at Flying Saucer in Raleigh

Appearance is a clear amber with next to no head, more of a skim really. Some lacing in the beginning. Smell is lots of hops, as to be expected, that are mostly citrusy: a tendency towards grapefruit. Taste is hoppy with the grapefruit tones dominant and a hint of pineapple. The surprise in the taste is that there is a actually a ton of malt (caramel?) presence in this beer, maybe too much? Mouthfeel is somewhat heavy for the style with medium-low carbonation and lots of hop oils.

This is quite similar to Bell's Two Hearted in profile, but not as good. A good IPA but not a great one, the malt sorta weirded me out.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass at cellar temperature

L - Pale amber color with 1 and a half finger white-tan head. Not great retention or lacing.

S - Lots of citrus and some piney hop scents. Some malty aroma. Smells pretty good.

T - Not as much hop flavor as the nose suggests, but still citrus (orange and maybe grapefruit) and piney elements. More maltiness. Pretty balanced for promising lots of hops. More alcohol taste than the nose suggests also. Tastes sweet up front with a bitter after-taste.

F - Light-to-medium body going down but something about it kind of hangs around in your mouth afterward. Pretty carbonated and pretty dry, also.

O - This is a pretty good IPA. I was pretty excited when I poured it and when I smelled it, but the taste leaved me asking for more. I also tasted more alcohol than I probably wanted to after the nose didn't suggest much. I would definitely drink it again, but it's not my favorite IPA.
