"Before red curtains framed the Georgia Theatre stage, they hung alongside silver screen legends: Bogart's trademark scar, Bette Davis' eyes. The Elite Theatre hummed with a reel-to-reel movie projector, and lines for the box office looped the block for the hottest ticket in town. By 1935, the building's signature red-lettered marquee advertised double-feature nickelodeons and spaghetti westerns. Like any good sequel, the Georgia Theatre kept what was great about the Elite: star-studded evenings of entertainment. Double Feature stars as the second in Terrapin's Georgia Theatre Sessions, a Belgian-Style Dubbel Ale as smooth as the silver screen." Brewed in the style of a Belgian-Style Dubbel Ale, This beer was released in 2010 amongst Terrapin's other three Georgia Theatre Session Ales. This is the second installment. Bottle number 4977.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a Terrapin snifter. Served above 56º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy, sudsed ginger-white head over a copper-orange body. Clarity is moderate with a mild haze and some flecked sediment. Carbonation is plentiful and vivacious. Retention is average at best, lacing is thin and spotty. 3.25

(Smell) Aromas of light toasted caramel malt syrup, Belgian candied sugars, essences of fruit including plum and figs and a pinch of vanilla and spice round out the aroma. No notable hop presence is to be gathered from the aroma. A fairly well-rounded Belgian Dubbel and a pleasant aroma with little harshness nor unpleasantries. Potency is moderate. 4.25

(Taste) The flavor continues much of the aroma's emphasis on malt-forward character, with a light bready sweetness, some toasted grain and a pinch of spice for the Belgian edge. The drink notably exposes a previously well-hidden booziness that grazes much of the subtler flavors. While this doesn't ruin the beverage, it is admittedly out-of-check and distracts from the overall drinking experience. Double Feature finishes with a peppy note of candied apples, plum sugar and honey, ending on a pleasingly sweetened high note reminiscent of a traditional candy shop sampler. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) The drink texture is smooth, lightly syrupy and a bit chewy. Carbonation adds a bold crispness and air to the texture for a buzzy mouthfeel. The body is medium for the style and medium+ amongst all beer. Alcohol presence is medium/high, fairly easy to pick out in the flavor, although it is well absent in the aroma. Balance is slightly in favor of alcohol over sweetness, with fruit tartness subtle to indiscernible. Bitterness, uncommon in most traditional Belgian styles, is expectedly absent in this beer. The carbonation is unusually vivacious in this Dubbel but seems to work well enough against the flavor and average body this beer has. 3.75

(Overall) Despite some poorly concealed alcohol presence in this beer, I was incredibly pleased with how well balanced and approachable Double Feature was. Despite only being halfway done with the Georgia Theatre sessions, this is more enjoyable to me over the Iron Tankard Old Ale, and while I don't expect it to improve any more with age, I wouldn't turn down the idea of picking up a bottle and trying it again in the near future, if the price is reasonable- granted, if I could find another bottle! 3.75

Pours a nice caramel-brown with a thin white head that dissipates quickly, leaving just the slightest ring of tiny bubbles around the edge. Big, malt-forward aromas of caramel, toffee, over-ripe pear, and baked raisin bread. Taste is similarly malt-heavy, with caramel and toffee, candied orange peel, more ripe tree fruit, and grain. Not bad, but nothing unique. Mouthfeel is a bit fizzier then I'd like, but it may be due to the age. Medium-bodied overall, with fizzy carbonation. Overall a decent attempt at a Dubbel, but nothing special.
