On draft poured into a snifter. This is the Challenger version.

A: Orangish-red colored body, looks like an apple color. Transparent. Head is creamy, Quite not so white. Looks absolutely delicious, and lighter bodied for style.

S: Smells like a barelywine as far as alcohol content is concerned, just not as dominant or overbearing. Extremely clean smell like a freshly cut red apple. Undertone of spicy hops but nothing to kill your nostril.

T: Wow! Doesn't hit the palate immediately, but after a Brooklyn minute an unique hop presence shines without having a typical lingering bitterness. I get a gummy hop taste that is very different; I usually associate gummy with malt notes, like bready/biscuity. Reminds me of gummy bears.

M: The hop presence is very warm and wet, almost sticky. Bitterness is up front, more from the carbonation, then transitions to mellow, lightly spicy hop notes that are one of a kind.

D: Excellent brew. I know this is really fresh which helps with the review; the whole point of the beer is too drink fresh to enjoy the fresh hops. One-of-a-kind that will broaden the pallets of hop-heads:)

2012 Citra Hop

A hazy orange amber color with a thick off-white colored head that laces the glass.

Amazing aroma here....peach and apricot with some strong cut grass and citrus hop.

Wow....taste follows the aroma. A big peach, mango and citrus fruit flavor with a touch of grassy hop. There is a nice toasted malt flavor in the background with a good amount of sweetness. Finishes dry with minimal bitterness and a nice citrus, peach and toasted malt flavor. Definitely has that fresh nugs quality.

Medium body with some peppery carbonation. A bit of a sticky feel also. A nice dry finish.

I thought this beer was going to need to mellow, but it is perfect right now. Fruity, flavorful, and sweet without being cloying. Very drinkable beer. I'm glad I picked this up, I going to grab a few more of these tomorrow.

2012 Citra Hops Version... Had the 2011 didn't like it that much, but didn't get around to reviewing it... Looks nice hazy orange copper color... Nose is strong piney and citrus very evident. I really like the smell. Flavor is very bright... citrus, orange, hop bitterness is there but a very fresh clean flavor... Doesn't leave a lot on the back of the tongue like most ipa's though these fresh hop beers tend to not be as bitter... I really do like this years version pick one up if you see it around.

A: Deep clear amber in color. Nice thick and fluffy, off-white, bubbly, rocky head. Mild lacing.

S: Definitely VERY "green" and floral/earty.

T&M: Defintely original tasting. Very grassy and earthy hop taste. Mildly sweet with a mild to moderate bitterness. The earthy hop flavor hangs on the tongue. Medium bodied.

Very good IPA. Hopped to the brim with such fresh hops that it is like chewing on sweet buds. It is over the top on a single hop which gives it this original flavor. NOt up there with the best, but a very drinkable IPA that is ulitmately satisfying.

Poured from bomber into anchor bar pint glass

A- seems to be a deep orangish/red. looks very clean. Can see some bubble coming up, but not a ton. small head that falls into a thin head that seems to maintain.

S-again clean and crisp. I can smell some malt, along with so hops. some pine, and floral. very nice.

T- Very good. hops hit me up front. finishing with some malty hop to it. Like i keep saying and they advertised it seems very clean and smooth. not over powering hops but they did very good at bringing out the flavors instead of just bitterness.

MF- very smooth, with maybe a little creamy feeling after it goes down. gave me a slight tingle on the tongue when it first hits, but very nice.

O-overall i got to say this is just a very smooth and crisp beer. It isnt over powering, which i do usually enjoy, but it still has enough bite to it to satisfy that, while balancing it well with the malt and hop flavors. This is a very enjoyable beer.

A - Orange/Amber color with a thick bubbly head and lacing is evident. Very, very attractive beer.

S - A balanced blend of piny & citrusy hops and caramel malts. I'm a little surprised at how balanced it is, considering it plays up the hops so much on the label. It's a very nice smell, just not quite as advertised.

T - Hoppier than the nose. Caramel malts dominate and give the beer a sort of thick chewy taste. The hops are present and delicious, but aren't bitter. It does do a nice job of balancing the flavors and tasting very natural.

M - As described above, it's a bit chewy and thick in taste - even though the body is more medium. Nice carbonation level with a smooth, hoppy finish.

O - I really liked So Fresh and So Green, Green. Besides the delightful OutKast reference, this has been a really delightful brew. It's not quite what the advertising would have you think it is, but it is a quality brew. It's extremely well-balanced without losing the essence of its ingredients. A delight!

Serving Type - 22oz bottle

Appearance - Golden yellow/tan. Not much of a head.

Smell - Some skunky 'wet' hops, malts, honey, citrus, sugars

Taste - Wow, very nice. Honeymelonish flavored hop influenced beer. Very smooth, tastly, not bitter at all, sweet hops. I Really liked how well hidden the alcohol was and how the malts sweentened it up

Mouthfeel - Its thin and sweet, so it didnt last long but was sweet on tounge, palette and throat. You can really enjoy the mellow and fruit hop aftertaste for a few seconds.

Drinkabilty - Its rather low alcohol %, and being sweet, this needs to be a summertime release cause i so can see myself having a few on a 90 degree day on the pourch or at the pool. I really think this beer would be much more loved as a june release, its winter now, its stout time, not sweet hoppy time. This is a nice pleasent beer, i enjoyed it.

Poured into a pint glass. No freshness date which I find ironic.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch beige head that retains decently before popping away to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large, bubbly patch of surface foam. Sticky, melty lacing.

S- I'm not sure, but I'm willing to bet this is the 2012 version (the shop I got it from has a low turnover so some bottles just sit) because I believe I'm picking up the Citra hops. Very floral and citrusy aroma that's somewhat pungent. There's a malt sweetness beneath as well.

T- Smoothly balanced bitter-to-fruity ratio. Mild notes of grapefruit mingle with the semi-sturdy malt backbone. Very vibrant and juicy with little trace of alcohol.

M- Somewhat sharp and oily. Medium carbonation, same with the body.

O- Great IPA that's easy to drink and doesn't skimp on flavor. The only thing that's annoying is I'm pretty sure I had the 2010 version which I also enjoyed but, since they keep the same label every year and there are no freshness dates on the bottles, there's no way of me knowing for sure which year it was because I didn't review beers back then. Oh well, this one's good and I guess that's all that matters.

Hopped with fresh 2012 Citra hops. 22-ounce brown glass bottle poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Served at approximately 45 degrees F.

Pours especially clear, showing off a deep orangeish-copper hue with a huge two-fingered head of beige-tinged froth. As the head falls away, it clings to the glass with herculean strength, leaving behind long legs and fat splotches of lace.

The nose is a wonderful melange of citrus and tropical fruit notes, showing off a spread of blood orange, mango, papaya, and a hint of pineapple, all encircled by hints of starfruit. This showcase is what Citra hops are all about.

Smooth and medium-bodied, with a surprisingly lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Unlike the nose, the palate is pleasantly malt-accentuated and well-balanced. Bready, grain-like malt notes take the show from the get-go, teased in the middle with a balancing dose of dry bitterness that shows touches of grapefruit and orange around the edges but which doesn't intrude much further than that. Going down, more grainy breadiness takes hold and lingers afterward in the finish, melding with a moderately-dry bitterness to leave the drinker reaching for another.

The combination of an amazing bouquet, a balanced palate, and a dry finish yield one heck of a drinkable brew, and this showcase of brewing talent and a magnificent hop variety speaks of a beer that Terrapin should think heavily on re-releasing in the future.

Pours a nice light amber color with a nice little lacing as the head dissipates. Smells of fresh citrus and piney hops. Taste is of fresh pine hops with citrus notes. Not too hoppy, perfect for a ipa begginner, and refreshing for an IPA veteran. Mouthfeel is slightly high in carbonation. Oily residue left on the palate allows you to continually taste the fresh hops. Drinkability is among the highest for IPA's ingredients are perfectly balanced in this one. Terrapin, you are very quickly gaining my respect.

i had this on tap last night at the j.clyde in birmingham for a cool beer event w/ terrapin and spike was in attendance as well.

a - poured a dark amber color into a pint glass with a nice "hat" on top the color of eggshell.
s - lots of good hop aroma in this one, very floral.
t - light hop bitterness with a hint of dryness and some slightly sweet malts to balance it out nicely.
m - thin to medium.
d - highly drinkable and very tasty wet hop beer.

A: A nice see through amber color, with a small present head at the top, Lacing surrounded the glass.

S: Very herbal scent and a presence of some malts. A slight hint of apples, but very fresh morning scent to this one.

T: Same as the nose on the taste, very herb like flavor, malts are very present, slight sweetness as well.

M: Mid carbonation, medium bodied.

D: I enjoyed this brew, very simple and unique in its own right. Would definitely buy another, Terrapin never lets me down.

Bottle poured into Duvel Tulip Glass.
