Consumed March 7th, 2012.

Beer pours a thick, dark brown. Virtually black with deep mahogany highlights. What head there is presents as a thin tan ring around the edges. Minimal sheeting.

Aroma is slightly sour. Malted milk balls.

Flavor: light. Dark malts up front, though not as bold as a standard stout. Roasted, not burnt. A little sour and lactic on the finish. Low to moderate bitterness. Fairly tame and not terribly interesting for a whole bottle.

Mouthfeel is slightly smooth and a little thick. Decent carbonation.

Don't think I'll be having this one again.

8.99 for 4pack. poured into pint glass.

a- pours a black coffee color, with a little head that quickly dissipates into a thin ring.

s- hints of vanilla, chocolate and warm milk

t- sweet, roasted malts. lots of vanilla comes out as it warms

m- i think a little under-carbonated. it's not as rich as I'd want, but it is smooth.

o- it's a good beer, but I don't know if it's something I'd seek out.

Thanks are due to EgadBananas for providing this bottle. Poured into a pint glass. Pours black with a tall, creamy dark brown head. The head dissipates quickly, leaving a wispy cap atop the beer. There are aromas of dark roasted barley malt and chocolate. It smells roasty and sweet. Overall, the aromas are basic, but pleasing. Sweet and dark chocolate hit the mouth, adding some sweetness to the roast dark barley malt. The flavors are well balanced. The body is light to medium with light carbonation. It is creamy and smooth. The drinkability is high. Overall, this is a very good beer. It is an easy drinking beer that works as an after dinner drink or paired with dessert.

This would be a good Terrapin beer to do year round. Yeah, it's probably "best" in winter but the sweetness, drinkability, and low alcohol level makes it a good year round choice. Picked up a four pack and got the bottles to fridge temperature. I wanted to let my first pour warm up since I like my stouts between room and fridge temperature but I decided to pour anyway.

Their was some pretty good lacing and the foam had a nice brownish tint to it. And yes, "the foam kept getting thicker". Solid carbonation for a stout. The color is near jet black and I am starting to get excited.

The smell contains loads of belgium/dark chocolate mixed with Hersey's syrup. Not that it's a bad thing, but you can smell the sweetness. There is a little burnt malt in there that gives it the roast smell. Even though I don't smell alcohol it seems like is more than 6%.

The taste is not as sweet as the smell but still sweet. The surprise is how well the burnt malt and the chocolate go together. They nailed this part of the beer. The alcohol level of 6% is fitting but I'd rather it been at 7% (hey, it is a winter seasonal). There is not that much depth due to the sweetness that balances all other favors but the taste still lingers well into the palate. I like it but overall the taste is about one frog's leg away from my style.

The mouth feel is really great. Not many 6% beers create this amount of body. It is creamy, like a good milk stout should be. Nobody will be disappointed in this part of the beer.

Overall, I enjoyed this beer. $9.99 for a 4 pack is reasonable. I enjoy the body and mouth feel the most but I can say one thing; even though the beer lingers and creates a great creamy feel it tends to stay one dimensional due to the sweetness.

I'm a fan of milk stouts- they're not something I have all the time, but occasionally I like their creamy gentleness and warming sweetness as a nightcap. I really like Terrapin's version- I'd go so far as to say it's pretty much the only fairly recently added rotating beer from them that I do like. Pours black with a thin tan head that fades to a swirl. Nice cocoa notes in the nose with just the barest hint of vanilla and warming spice. There is a bit of nuttiness along with the creaminess in the taste, and very nice fine cocoa flavors with a long chocolate finish and milky, silky smoothness with a hint of nutty cocoa bib bitterness in the background. Really nice- perhaps it could be a tad thicker in the mouthfeel, but overall a fine beer.

Dark brown with a finger-thick foamy tan head that quickly subsides to a thin layer of bubbles. Heavy chocolate nose with caramelized sugar and roasted malts in the background. Taste also leans heavily on the chocolate and roasted quality, though not as sweet as the smell would seem to indicate, or as sweet as some other milk stouts. Mouthfeel is medium thin, with some lively carbonation that adds a little minerality. Aftertaste is ever so slightly bitter.

Overall, this is a very good stout, that straddles the line between a dry stout and a sweet one, with the accent on the chocolate character and less on the coffee.

12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass.

A - Pours midnight black with an inch of light brown head. Nice lacing.

S - Big chocolate malts, maple, and a little bit of dark fruits. There is a chocolate milk creaminess to the smell.

T - Cocoa, roasted malt, vanilla, wood notes. Flavorful and very drinkable.

M - Lighter than the rich flavor profile would suggest. Light carbonation, very smooth.

O - Great chocolate aroma and flavor. One of the best milk stouts I have had. I will definitely pick some up the next time it is in season.

A 2010 bottle. Poured into a snifter.

A: Black with slight ruby highlights. A tan, one finger head that stays. Thick lacing.

S: Chocolate, malts, leather.

T: Follows nose, minus the leather, of course. Very smooth with a cocoa finish. Very refreshing.

M: Thick, chewy. Heavy carbonation.

O: I was really impressed with this little turtle concoction. Very tasty. Will definately seek more! Don't know if the 2 year aging made it better, but this Moo Hoo is a real winner.

A: This poured an opaque inky mahogany with a little dark tan head.
S: It smelled like strong bitter dark chocolate, with some roasted coffee and pumpernickel.
T: It tasted like bitter dark chocolate and roasted coffee, with some citrus and cream. It had a clean and bittersweet aftertaste with lingering creaminess.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Nice full body.
D: This was a nice stout, but it had more chocolate than milk. The scent and taste were enjoyable, and the body was great. It had a smooth finish, so it was very easy to drink. Nothing special, but good quality brew.

A-a dark chestnut brown with a thin layer of dark tan head

S-malt, chocolate, and a light roasted coffee smell

T-roasted malt and coffee, milk chocolate, and a milk creaminess

M-creamy, medium body, light carbonation

Overall it is a good beer, not as chocolaty as I was hoping for though. But easy to drink.

Received in a trade as an extra. Poured into a Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a dark, rich deep deep brownish black with a thin half a finger dark mocha head that falls down to leave a thinnish blanket with light side lacing.

S - Light lactose and chocolate as well as roasted malts with a slight metallic aroma.

T - Yep, this is definitely a sweet stout. Sweet, almost caramely roasted malts. Nice chocolate milk like flavours. Lactose is good and creamy, but there is still a slight metallic taste to it. Very odd...

M - Mouthfeel is great, lightly prickly carbonated and nice and creamy thanks to the lactose. Spot on.

O - Overall I really enjoyed this sweet stout. This is the second milk stout I've had though that had a faint metallic aftertaste though. I dont get it.
