Somewhat of a muddy black color. Nice tan head. Ok aroma-slight mollasses and roasted tinge. Very nice cocoa and chocolatey flavor upfront. Wooden/barrel flavor. Not quite a bourbon note but it is there. Creamy and velvety mouthfeel for sure. Very enjoyable milk sweet. Could be a tad sweeter but still enjoyable.

Single bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando.

Poured into a nonic. Even when held to the light, this brew is light-repellant, yielding nothing but a deep chocolate brown hue. Cream coloured head about an inch thick, receding to a thin ring. Lacing flecks here and there.

Nose is sweet milk chocolate, cream, caramel and a hint of roasted malt. Very inviting.

If one were hankering for milk chocolate and beer, but couldn't be bothered alternating between the two, this brew has you covered. Nice milk chocolate, a lingering hint of lactose, caramel and a mild bitterness. Sweet, but tempered with a roasted flavor to the finish
Medium bodied, carbonation is a touch hot.

A sturdy, dependable milk chocolate stout. Neither complex nor boring, this brew has much going for it in its simplicity. Would be a nice dessert brew.

Had a chance to pick this there was some left up at the local ShopRite Liquors. Even though I've had quite a few Stouts, I like most of Terrapin's offerings and thought that this would be enjoyable. While this wasn't a bad beer, there are so many competitors and similar beers on the shelf that this didn't stand out, but it went down relatively easy at the same time.

This had a dark pour to it with not a lot of carbonation, and a mousse-like head that lasted for a fair amount of time. Just a hint of dark chocolate on the nose with lactose to back it up on the taste. This was not as thick as I had hoped even though this had just a bit of cream to it. This reminded me of a slightly flat form of soda and but without the sticky aftertaste or empty calories.

Stouts don't get more easygoing than this and I could have downed another bottle in my session. While this wouldn't overpower anyone, fans of this style or milk chocolate will be mildly surprised at how easygoing and accessible this was. There's not much to expect going into this but sometimes, that's not a bad thing when dealing with a beer this dark.

A--Pitch black with a light caramel head that vanishes quickly and leaves not a trace.
S--Nose is straight up malty sweet milk chocolate. If I had to simplify it, I would say it smells sort of like Yoohoo and Whoppers blended with a little black coffee.
T--Taste follows the nose. Chalky, malted milky sweetness is enough to show the backbone, but it doesn't overwhelm. Neither does the mocha hoppiness, which begins half way through and eases into the finish. Suggestions of roasted pecans and marshmallows. Delicious. Very straightforward beer....it doesn't try to be crazy complex and it's not. It is a simple milk stout that is executed very well.
M--Milky smooth, viscous.
D--A mild enough stout to drink several and I want to.
Overall, if beer and chocolate milk had a love child, this would be it. I love it.

Pours black with a huge mocha heads. A rich, sweet aroma of chocolate, cream and coffee. Tasted like a super creamy chocolate milk with a touch of coffee. Kind of a meh mouthfeel, nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. Overall, a nice, easy drinking stout. Enjoyable.

Thanks to n2185 for the bottle. 2011 vintage, bottled in December, I believe.

Pours black, quite dark and opaque for a stout with ABV this low. One finger of cocoa-tan head, lasts long enough for me to sit down and start typing this review. Decent lacing.

Smells like stout, lactose, and chocolate, in that order. I like the blend a lot - the light roasty notes of the malts work really well with the milky sweetness and slight bite of the chocolate. Smooth, rounded, and delicious.

This tastes, to me, pretty much what a chocolate milk stout should taste like (though I can't say I've ever had one before). The lactose is present as a silky sweet undercurrent throughout. The chocolate rises up midway through, bringing some carbonation that makes it like a chocolate soda. Just went I think it's about to be too much (a la many of Southern Tier's flavored stouts), that chocolatey rush drops off. That's the real delight of this beer - that the ingredients are used with restraint, allowing different flavors to shine through and complement each other. That said, it's a little on the bland side, and I want more stout from it.

Mouthfeel is good enough, with more carbonation than I'd expect (hence the chocolate soda comment). It's lacking the slick feel that I want from a milk stout, though that picks up late, and it's on the light side.

Solid beer. It sometimes drinks like a milky chocolate soda. Main complaint is that I want more out of the grains - more roasted character to back up the other flavors.

Enjoyed 2- 8oz pours from a 12 FL.OZ.- 355 ML bottle @ the East Nashville Beer Festival in Nashville, TN. Poured from the Green/Yellow labeled bottle w/ a Turtle dressed as the Chick-Fil-A cow holding wheat into my 8oz East Nashville Beer Festival Tasting Glass. Has VINTAGE:2011 on the side of the bottle.

Aroma- Very mild chocolate and espresso notes. Everything with this aroma was very light and easy oging. Sweetness was definitely in the background.

Appearance- Pours a .5 finger, dark brown head that has weak retention. Has an opaque brown colored body. Leaves suds behind.

Flavor- VERY sweet and malty from the start. Chocolate milk flavors come around as this Chocolate Stout starts to live up to its name. Light bitterness at the finish. Sweet and lightly roasted.

Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light Carbonation, Sweet, Smooth, and goes down like the closest think to Yoo-Hoo.

Overall Impression- A fantastic example of a Sweet/Milk stout! The chocolate character was phenomenal in here as well. Would highly suggest if your a fan of easy drinking stouts with a chocolate character like no other!

Appearance: Black glass holds a halo of light tan head that gives a few streaks of lace.

Smell: Cocoa powder, roasted grain, light sweetness, yeah, I get a little chocolate milk, it's nice!

Taste: Little more dark fruit in the mouth, prune, raisin, but the chocolate note plays through and makes the package more than just another stout. The beer base is a little overwhelmed, but solid enough.

Mouthfeel: Smooth slick texture with low carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: Nice beer! Kind of surprised I haven't seen a Chocolate Milk Stout before, it makes a lot of sense.

Cheers to Illudium for the sample!

pretty dark black with a deep mocha head that quickly recedes to a thin film with a bit of lacing left behind.

aroma of sweet milk chocolate and some bitter cacao with a bit of roasted malts.

starts off with milk chocolate. definitely sweet, but not quite on the level of ST's Chocolat, which is a good thing. a bit of a charred flavor and some bitter chocolate/roastiness cuts through the sweetness a bit.

kinda thin bodied, yet creamy with a subtle carbonation. a subtle lingering metallic feel is kind of odd, but very subtle.

I like it, but don't love it. on the sweeter side, but not quite flavorful enough to be exemplary.
